"The Last Of Us" Season 2 Is A Million Years Away, But Here's Everything We Know

One thing's for sure, it can't come soon enough!

After the first season of The Last of Us finished airing on HBO, one thing I know is that I have a Joel and Ellie-shaped hole in my heart.

So, what's keeping me going is knowing that we will be getting a second season.

But what do we know so far? Let me tell you all I've found out about the show's expected return...

Careful: Spoilers ahead for The Last of Us Season 1 and both video games!

1. Season 2 was greenlit after only a few episodes of Season 1 had aired:

When Bella Ramsey spoke on The Jonathan Ross Show this year, the actor hinted that the team will probably start shooting at the end of this year, or the beginning of next, and that it will likely be a whole year of filming.

4. That said, both writing and filming have been affected by the WGA and (still ongoing) SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023.

Once the WGA strike ended, Craig Mazin confirmed via Threads that work on Season 2 would resume as soon as strike rules were lifted. Once it's written, it will just be a matter of getting the actors their fair deal so that filming can start!

5. We will likely have to be patient and wait until at least 2025 to see it.

6. The filming location has already been chosen.
