Janet Jackson is a legend, a massive talent, and a straight up national treasure.

And perhaps it's NOOO coincidence that today, on the eve of the 14th anniversary of her "Nipplegate" Superbowl performance with Justin Timberlake, Twitter has designated today "Janet Jackson Appreciation Day."

So what's that about?

ICYMI, Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson performed together at the 2004 Superbowl halftime show and Timberlake accidentally revealed Jackson's right breast during the performance.

Though Jackson was the one who was exposed by Timberlake, she bore the brunt of the public outrage around the incident and was forced to write a public apology. She didn't attend the Grammys that year, and was blacklisted by several major radio and media organizations.

Many still feel that Justin Timberlake never truly properly apologized to Jackson for the incident, and that Jackson was unfairly blamed for what happened.

So yes, fans are showing up to support Ms. Jackson-if-you're-nasty.
