Here's What The Average Woman In The US Spends On Makeup — And It's A Lot

According to a new survey, anyway.

    Makeup is great, right?

    But damn, it's expensive.

A new survey from Skin Store of more than 3,000 women found that the average woman in the US spends around $300,000 on makeup in her lifetime.

Women from New York supposedly fork over the most for makeup: The average New York lady spends around $11 per day on makeup. For comparison, women in Montana spend only $3.50 a day on average.

There ARE some innnnnneresting outlying facts: Women in Delaware spend the most on lipstick — around $30 per lipstick — while women in Alaska spend more on moisturizer than any other state ($45). Must be all that Arctic wind.

Women, the survey found, use an average of 16 products in the morning — going through a regimen that includes face wash, toner, serum, eye cream, and moisturizer before commencing with their actual makeup.

But there's the money we spend on cosmetics, and then there's the time we spend on applying all those lustrous lipsticks and bronzers. According to the survey respondents, people from New York state spend an average of 21 minutes a day getting ready in the morning, while the average nationwide is seven minutes.
