People Are Accusing Forever 21 Of Putting Nazi Symbols On A Shirt

The shirt contains two major symbols of Nazism. Update: Forever 21 has removed the shirt from its site.

For one, the print repeats the number 88, which is white supremacist code for "Heil Hitler."

The code is used by white supremacists and Nazis because H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. Writing "88" = "HH" = "Heil Hitler," according to the Anti-Defamation League.

The shirt's symbology came to light after two shoppers in Modesto, California — Amie Alton and Stella Lopez — noticed the design and alerted the store's employees.

"I've seen that tagged on stuff growing up, and know what that is," Alton told Fox40.

UPDATE: A spokesperson from Forever 21 sent the following statement to BuzzFeed:

“Forever 21 takes feedback and product concerns very seriously. With regards to the t-shirt in question, upon receiving feedback from our customers, we took immediate action to have the product removed from our website. We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by the product.”
