I've Just Discovered That Chicken Salt Beer Exists, And I'm As Appalled As I Am Intrigued

Okay, but — and hear me out — I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of chicken salt Baileys?

There are few flavours more iconically Australian than the salty, slightly umami hit of chicken salt, liberally tossed over a serving of hot chips.

But now some culinary madman over at Big Shed Brewing has come out with chicken salt–flavoured beer — and I really can't decide if this is patriotism or treason?

On the one hand, I applaud the ~innovative thinking~ and marketing prowess — I mean, who would have known that salted caramel would be such a big hit? But on the other hand, the idea of all that yeasty beer mingling with the flavour of chippie grease traps...well, it's certainly a bold experiment.

And it seems that Aussies are split in opinion over the concoction, with some labelling it strange, while others are tipping their hats to the sheer ambition of dropping such an intriguing flavour:
