The 25 Stages Of Trying To Become More Financially Responsible

It's a vicious (and expensive) cycle.

    1. So you’ve decided to start being better about spending money.

    2. You look at your nearly empty savings account and imagine all the cash that’ll be in there one day.

    3. You make the decision to cut down on going out.

    4. (Well, after this one time, though.)

    5. You make aspirations to stop buying new clothes.

    6. And to even sell some of the ones you have.

    7. But you can’t part with your stuff.

    8. And you end up being inspired to purchase a few new fall fashions. So what?

    9. You notice that you go out for dinner way too often.

    10. So you buy actual groceries and even get a little excited to cook.

    11. Except you chronically mess up the recipe, and end up ordering delivery anyway.

    12. And console yourself by leaving leftovers.

    13. Though you’re not supposed to go out, you decide to just stick to one drink.

    14. Which of course, ends up being five. And a round of shots no one paid you back for.

    15. Mad at yourself, you promise to safeguard whatever you have left.

    16. Except, whoops, your rent is due.

    17. And your internet/cable/utilities.

    18. It’s a big blow, so the next time you see your friends, you try to find a free activity.

    19. Which essentially means walking around aimlessly in a park.

    20. You give up and decide to spend the night in watching Netflix.

    21. Only now you realize your next installment of student loan payments is due.

    22. You obviously need dinner, drinks, and friendship to cleanse your wounds.

    23. ...dammit.

    24. But at last, you get your newest paycheck, which you never really appreciated until now.

    25. Which is good, because this was all just a practice round, right?
