It sounds like you’re more burned out than genuinely dreading hanging with this person. Now’s your chance to politely suggest a rain check hang. If they’re potentially someone you’ll want to date seriously, they’ll get that nothing’s more of a buzzkill than forcing yourself to come up with icebreaker questions when you’re running on four hours of sleep and have work emails at the back of your mind. Reschedule the date!

So long as you’re not doing this an hour before you go, just tell them life got busy and you'll get back to them when you’re free again (most people will take the hint if you don’t follow up after). Life is short, and there’s no point in forcing yourself to go on dates you don’t have a genuine excitement about. Trust your lack of enthusiasm, take a swiping break if this has been happening a lot lately, and do something fun instead!

Going on a first date is a little nerve-racking for everyone, but don't let it stop you if you've had a good time chatting with this person up till now! If it helps, have a backup plan to leave early or pick a coffee date to make it more casual.
