Army General Charged With Disturbing List Of Crimes, Including Rape

Among Jeffrey Sinclair's numerous charges: possessing booze, porn and "engaging in conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman."

This is Jeffrey A. Sinclair, a brigader general who's served in the Army for 27 years, including five combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, the AP reports. He's also an accused sodomite.

Several months ago, Sinclair was sent home from Afghanistan, where he was serving as deputy commander of the 82nd Airborne Division headquarters, the Fayetteville Observer reports. Wednesday, the 18th Airborne Corps announced that Sinclair has been charged with multiple violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Sinclair has not been arrested — only informed of these charges. The next step is an investigation and preliminary hearing. If the case goes to trial, he would only be the third Army general in recent years to face court martial, according to the AP.
