Netflix’s New TV Show "Sneakerheads" Is The Most Relatable Series Of 2020

Everyone is a sneakerhead at heart!

It’s official. Netflix has outdone themselves again! The streaming network’s new series Sneakerheads is all the rage and it’s because it resonates with anyone who has ever wanted something so badly in life that they would go to the ends of the world to find it.

Anyone can relate to Devin, a reformed Sneakerhead who is now a Toms-wearing stay-at-home dad of two. Even though he loves to collect shoes, Devin decides to kick his addiction for the sake of his family.

But he soon learns he can never stay away from the sneaker world when he reunites with his irresponsible high school bestie, Bobby, who keeps pulling him back into his old habits.

The whole movie outlines Devin’s struggle to do right by his family, but also stay true to himself as a man. Even though he doesn’t enjoy his life as a stay-at-home dad, Devin tries to make the best of it for his wife, Christine, who is a paralegal.

Like most people, Devin enjoys doing something that’s just for him. But when a bad business deal with Bobby forces him to put $5,000 on his Discovery card, Devin has no clue how he’s going to explain that charge to his wife.

So he lies and says the card was stolen. As the bank investigates what happened, it buys him some time to come up with the cash and that’s where the real story begins.

As a viewer, it’s easy to understand where Devin is coming from. You don’t have to be a sneakerhead to know about the pain someone must feel when they can’t get their hands on something they really wanted.

At every turn, Devin’s wife asked him why he needed the shoes and his answer was always the same. It’s not about the sneaker, but the feeling he got from wearing the kicks.

As it turns out, those were the same shoes he wore when he met his wife, Christine, and scored an unbelievable amount of points in a basketball game.

At first, Christine couldn’t understand. But when she tries to hunt down a pricey purse that’s worth $3,000, that’s only when she sees the importance of material possessions.

Sometimes it’s not about the price of something, but the way that item makes you feel. For Devin, he loved collecting sneakers because it gave him a lot of street cred. And for Christine, her purses made her feel beautiful and it showed how hard she worked as a paralegal.

If anything, Sneakerheads teaches us that it’s OK to splurge once in a while, especially if that item makes you feel like you’re the most important person on Earth!
