Ben Affleck Still Remembers The "Vicious" Stuff That Was Written About Jennifer Lopez In The Tabloids When They Dated

    "People were so mean."

From 2002 to 2004, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez ruled the dating game as one of Hollywood’s cutest couples.

But even though fans couldn’t get enough of their romance, Ben said there were some people who were very “sexist” and “racist” towards his ex-fiancée on The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast Awards Chatty.

"People were so fucking mean about her — sexist, racist. Ugly, vicious shit was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things," Affleck recalled.

"Now it's like, she's lionized and respected for the work she did, where she came from, what she accomplished — as she fucking should be!” he added.

In November 2002, Affleck and Lopez got engaged. But days before they were set to walk down the aisle, they called off their wedding and went their separate ways.

These days, Lopez is engaged to Alex Rodriguez and the singer says she’s having a better time dealing with her engagement now than 18 years ago.

"It was just crazy," J.Lo previously recalled to InStyle about the scrutiny she received for being with Affleck. "Now at least I can show you who I am a little bit.

"Back then you just believed anything you read on the cover of a tabloid. Many times it wasn't true, or it was like a third of the truth," the "All I Have" musician added.

Sadly, J. Lo noted her and the actor’s relationship “didn’t live through the tabloid era.” But at least she found the man of her dreams in A-Rod, and Affleck also appears to be happy with Ana de Armas.
