Meet Your Partner's Parents For The First Time And We'll Tell You If They Like You Or Not

What is your first reaction to being asked to meet your in-laws?  


The in-laws are cooking but you find out it is a dish that you hate, what do you do?

The dad makes a cringeworthy joke — what do you do?  


Your in-laws want to play a game — what do you suggest?  


You were a bit _tooooo_ casual when it came to meeting the parents and ended up not making your best first impression. But there is still time to win them over —charm them a bit more by laughing at their (unfunny) jokes or complimenting them on their cooking.

Not going to lie, your in-laws aren't your biggest fan

Take this as a learning: you’re never going to be liked by everyone. While one of your partner’s parents worships the ground you walk on, the other just isn’t convinced. Maybe they’re protective of their child, or maybe you just ruffled their feathers a bit. Try not to let it get to you and they might come around eventually.

One of your in-laws likes you, the other doesn’t

Depending on how you look at this, this is either good or bad news. You didn’t make a fool out of yourself which is a huge plus, but you also didn’t make too much of a mark, which could be taken as a negative. Work on getting to know your in-laws a bit more and next time you see them, at least try to seem interested in their interests.

They’re ambivalent to you

You already know you’re not the best at first impressions — sometimes you have a case of bitchy resting face, others you say something inappropriate. While the first impression wasn’t that great, you’ve been able to claw some of your reputation back since then. You’re now firmly in their good books and they’re just waiting for you to become an official member of the fam.

They didn’t like you at first but now they love you

You wow-ed your in-laws big time. From the moment you stepped in the door they were enamoured with you. They loved your manners, your genuine interest in them and their stories, and your obvious love and respect for their child. As soon as you exited the building they agreed that you were a keeper!

They absolutely love you!
