Someone Photoshopped New Shoes Onto The Prime Minister And This Is Where Your Taxpayer Dollars Are Going

    Firstly, why? Secondly, why?

Hello. Here we all are, minding our business, getting 2019 off to a good start. It's summer, people are getting back to work after the Christmas and New Year break....

Might be a good time to check what the leader of our dear nation, Scott Morrison, has been up to during the holidays. Let's have a look at pm.gov.au.....

    WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?

Someone has poorly photoshopped two crisp new white LEFT shoes onto the feet of our prime minister. WHY? And also, why?

And did someone get paid for this? Like with taxpayer dollars?

The image was first spotted by Twitter user lukerhn, who pointed out that it was a quick edit of an older image used by the PM before.

Dug some more, found the OG dirty shoes in a Fiji Times article… LOL #shoegate #auspol https://t.co/DW3FgsJE7f

People were wondering whether the PM's shoes were considered not Australian enough for the PM's home page.

They also look like K-Swiss tennis shoes, so I assume some twat thought Morrison ought to be wearing dinkum Dunlop Volleys and did a really crap job of photo editing.

I am so confused about the shoes. If it was to remove branding why not just... paint out the stripes rather than crudely replace it? Surely just recolouring would have been fine? Also is there a hashtag for this? #shoegate #morrishoe ?

People were also reminded of other weird things the PM has done in the past.

@lukerhn Spotted in the Prime Minister's Office #shoegate

But why did they photoshop it, and not say, crop the feet out of the image if it was an issue? And what was wrong with his shoes in the first place? And why make such a poor effort to photoshop them on the bloody front page of the prime minister's official website?

Shortly after the shoes began going viral on Twitter with the hashtag #shoegate, the prime minister's website was hastily edited to remove the offending shoes.

On Wednesday morning the prime minister blamed his department for the bad 'shop job.

Message to my Department (PM&C): I didn’t ask for the shoeshine, but if you must Photoshop, please focus on the hair (lack thereof), not the feet! 😀 Here they are in all their glory - my footwear of choice whenever I can get out of a suit.

BuzzFeed News sought comment from the prime minister's office. The office told Nine that the image was "doctored" by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet without the permission of Morrison or his office, and that the PM "likes his own shoes".

Anyhow. That was a fun political scandal for 20 minutes. Shoes!
