Spoilers for The White Lotus Season 2 below!
Stars! They’re not all like us. Though the world became transfixed with Season 2 of The White Lotus last year, Jennifer Garner is apparently just catching up.
Unsurprisingly, this news shocked one of the stars of the hit series, Jennifer Coolidge.
The two Jennifers participated in the Hollywood Reporter’s annual Drama Actress Roundtable, alongside Claire Danes (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets, The Last of Us), Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon), and Dominique Fishback (Swarm). Coolidge was there for The White Lotus, while Garner was representing The Last Thing He Told Me.
However, it quickly became apparent to the actors that Garner didn’t know the fate of Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid. If you’ll remember, Tanya dies in Season 2 while trying to escape a bunch of gay men trying to kill her on a boat.
While Coolidge was saying she’d hoped that if she “did a good enough job” on Season 2 that series creator Mike White wouldn’t kill her character, Garner interjected to ask if her character’s assistant Portia (played by Haley Lu Richardson) was the one who killed her.
“Is it your assistant? Is it your assistant?” Garner excitedly asked.
This caused the group of actors to burst out laughing, realizing Garner may just be the only person unaware of how Season 2 ends. Claire even said as much. “She’s the one person on the planet, who happens to be sitting next to [Coolidge], who doesn’t know what happened. This is brilliant,” she says.
This prompted Melanie to ask which episode Garner was on.
“Greg just left,” Garner said, which means she’s likely just finished the second episode of Season 2. “The pity on your face,” she continued to Melanie. “It’s such a shock,” Melanie responded.
“I’m sorry, but it’s just so late in the game. Where have you been?” Coolidge jokingly asked Garner, who seemed to take the ribbing well.
Garner is understandably very busy, as Coolidge noted. She’s starring in The Last Thing He Told Me while also parenting two children with her ex-husband Ben Affleck and appearing in the Party Down reboot. Earlier this year, she was also spotted filming a new Netflix film, Family Leave.
