.This is Elizabeth Holmes, the subject of a new HBO documentary called The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley.
.In 2003, she founded the blood-testing company Theranos, whose special machine could supposedly run over 200 blood tests on just a few drops of blood. In reality, the number was closer to a dozen — and, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Holmes knew all along.
.Theranos even "gave fake demonstrations when it was striking deals with...Walgreens."
.It faked demonstrations to investors, too, leading to a valuation of $9 billion and making her "the youngest self-made woman billionaire." Today she's worth $0.
.So, when The Inventor aired Monday night, you can bet a lot of people tuned in. It's a juicy scandal, after all!!!
.But two minutes in, it wasn't the scandal that people were talking about.
.It was Elizabeth Holmes's baritone voice.
.Basically, that's all they could think about.
.Some people thought she sounded familiar...
....and others did their own Holmes impression.
.BASSO PROFUNDO!!!
.People hacked it...
....hacked it...
....and hacked it again:
.But not everyone.
.Points were made.
.As were videos.
.It was a TV Event™.
.Also, there was this guy wearing a Bitcoin tie. The end.
