Here's Why Everyone On Twitter Is Talking About Elizabeth Holmes (And Her Voice)

    Mostly her voice.

    1. This is Elizabeth Holmes, the subject of a new HBO documentary called The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley.

What was Elizabeth Holmes hiding? #TheInventor, a documentary about the rise and fall of the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world, is now streaming on @HBO.

    2. In 2003, she founded the blood-testing company Theranos, whose special machine could supposedly run over 200 blood tests on just a few drops of blood. In reality, the number was closer to a dozen — and, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Holmes knew all along.

    Feels like a missed opportunity.

    3. Theranos even "gave fake demonstrations when it was striking deals with...Walgreens."

Elizabeth Holmes showing people her invention at the Theranos headquarters #theinventor

    4. It faked demonstrations to investors, too, leading to a valuation of $9 billion and making her "the youngest self-made woman billionaire." Today she's worth $0.

My favorite thing about every Elizabeth Holmes story are the legions of old men who are all like "She had this indefinable quality...that star power....you knew she was special...you always wanted to hear what she had to say" & it's like SIR what you are describing is HORNINESS.

    5. So, when The Inventor aired Monday night, you can bet a lot of people tuned in. It's a juicy scandal, after all!!!

#TheInventor is what you'd get if you made a Fyre Festival documentary about Westworld.

    6. But two minutes in, it wasn't the scandal that people were talking about.

I’m not the only one distracted by Elizabeth Holmes’ voice, right? #TheInventor

    7. It was Elizabeth Holmes's baritone voice.

Honestly would've watched a whole doc just about Elizabeth Holmes fucking voice lol

    8. Basically, that's all they could think about.

    *clears throat* Us, too. https://t.co/FR81lLUplF

    9. Some people thought she sounded familiar...

Just me or is @whoweekly's collective Elizabeth Holmes voice just their best Mira Sorvino "Romy" impression?

    10. ...and others did their own Holmes impression.

here’s some footage they left out of the inventor HBO doc about how Elizabeth Holmes adopted her now-infamous proven-fake voice

    11. BASSO PROFUNDO!!!

have spent the better part of the evening trying to drop my voice and speak in a basso profundo a la Elizabeth Holmes and it’s possible I’ve damaged my vocal chords irreparably

    12. People hacked it...

ME: Clean the kitchen please BOYFRIEND: Maybe later ME: *Elizabeth Holmes voice* CLEAN THE KITCHEN PLEASE [boyfriend grabs sponge and 409] #TheInventor

    13. ...hacked it...

*elizabeth holmes fake voice* Yes, I’d like to buy one alcohol please

    14. ...and hacked it again:

Elizabeth Holmes sounds like me trying not to be mistaken for my mom on the phone at age 8.

    15. But not everyone.

Too many people crowding the Elizabeth Holmes voice space. I plan to disrupt the market by speaking in a voice so high only dogs can hear it. Enjoy being broke, everyone!

    16. Points were made.

Anyone who has ever criticized a woman’s vocal fry or uptalk or “shrill” tone needs to watch the Elizabeth Holmes documentary. She has the perfect voice so@r of you guys have been dreaming of all your lives! I’m very excited for you to finally hear it come to life. 💜

    17. As were videos.

    18. It was a TV Event™.

    19. Also, there was this guy wearing a Bitcoin tie. The end.

Highlight of Elizabeth Holmes doc so far is Bitcoin tie guy
