Ted Cruz Spent The Weekend Harassing Big Bird For Getting Vaccinated, And The Responses Are *Chef's Kiss*

Sir, please leave Big Bird alone.

If you think you've ever hit a low point in your life, just know that Texas senator Ted Cruz spent his weekend in a one-sided Twitter beef with America's beloved muppet, Big Bird.

Yes, you read that correctly. It all started when Big Bird tweeted that he got his COVID-19 vaccine.

I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it'll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy. Ms. @EricaRHill even said I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird. I had no idea!

Cruz responded, accusing Elmo's feathery friend of "government propaganda." It was the cringiest thing ever.

Government propaganda…for your 5 year old! https://t.co/lKUlomnpq1

As you can imagine, Twitter went wild. President Biden even stepped in to show his support for the muppet.

@BigBird @EricaRHill Good on ya, @BigBird. Getting vaccinated is the best way to keep your whole neighborhood safe.

Everyone else, however, took the opportunity to dunk on Cruz.

After all, he is the same guy who flew to Cancun during the devastating winter storm that left his state without water and power for days.

What do Ted Cruz and Big Bird have in common? They both fly south for the winter.

So, I guess you could say he had it coming.

I do think big bird could take Ted Cruz in a fight.

It seemed like everyone had it out for the senator.

Big Bird is kind, compassionate, empathetic, loving, adored, and vaccinated. Ted Cruz is . . . vaccinated.

It was pretty funny.

This tweet came along...

Who thinks @BigBird would make a better U.S. Senator? 🙋🏼‍♂️

...and it caused someone to make a parody account called "Big Bird for Senate." It gained over 37,000 followers in a matter of days.

Unlike Ted Cruz, I won’t fly away to Cancun when Texas is in trouble.

The jokes continued with more parody accounts.

Unlike Ted Cruz, in the face of adversity, @SenatorBigBird will not fly away. Big Bird is ready to serve the people of Texas. Retweet if you're with him.

It was hilarious.

I am so excited to announce that I will be joining @SenatorBigBird as his campaign’s finance director! The muppets are ready to take over D.C. and kick Ted Cruz out of office. Can you retweet and follow to amplify our campaign?

Although, regardless of what anyone says, it looks like Big Bird has always been a big advocate for vaccines. Just watch this Sesame Street clip from 1972.

Big Bird may have just received his COVID-19 vaccine, but as many of you pointed out, he was learning how to keep himself and his neighbors healthy long before that! Watch as Dr. Marzullo teaches @BigBird about vaccines and administers his measles shot back in 1972.

Big Bird himself hasn't responded to any of the madness yet, but we'll be sure to update you if he does.
