17 Completely Insane Pixar Movie Facts You Didn't Know Till Now

We recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us the craziest Disney movie facts they know, and boy, did they deliver! Here are the Pixar movie fact submissions that blew us away, along with a few of our other favorite facts.

1. So many people bought clownfish after the release of Finding Nemo that the species faced "local extinction" in some areas.

2. Reese Witherspoon gave up playing Merida in Brave because her Scottish accent was so bad.

3. John Ratzenberger has voiced a character in every single Pixar film, most recently as Mack in Cars 3.

4. Andy doesn't have a dad in Toy Story because human characters are expensive to animate and "the story was about toys."

5. Exactly 20,622 balloons lift Carl's house off the ground in Up — but in reality, it'd take more than 9.4 million to keep it in the air.

6. Boo from Monsters, Inc. was voiced by an actual toddler (Mary Gibbs) whose dad was a storyboard artist for the movie.

7. That means Boo's real name is the same as her voice actor's: Mary!

8. A Pixar employee accidentally deleted the animation for Toy Story 2, but the associate technical director, who had been working remotely while caring for her newborn son, luckily had a backup on her personal computer.

9. Apple's Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive helped design the sleek and sexy Eve from Wall-E.

10. Wall-E was named after none other than Walt Disney, whose full name was Walter Elias Disney.

11. Disney sold more than $10 billion worth of Cars merchandise in the five years after the movie's release — that's billion with a B!

12. In its early days, Pixar had a "secret list of rules" banning songs, villains, and love stories that helped its movies stand out from other animated films.

15. After seeing the documentary Blackfish, Pixar execs reportedly changed the ending of Finding Dory so that the creatures could leave the marine park if they wanted.
