ICYMI, the Teen Choice Awards were last night in LA, and the show was jam-packed with a ton of young celebrities I didn't recognize.
One person I *did* expect to see, however, was Miley Cyrus, the queen of award shows, who even my mom can recognize.
She was supposed to appear in person to receive the Ultimate Choice Award.
And even an hour before the show, it seemed like Miley would in fact show up.
EXCEPT THERE WAS NO MILEY TO BE FOUND.
Miley finally took to Instagram after the show had already started to explain her absence, posting a LOOONG explanation underneath what appears to be artwork for her upcoming single.
Basically, she bailed because she's been too damn busy working on a new single and music video called "Younger Now," which will drop this Friday.
"I am beyond bummed I couldn't make it to the show as I had every intention of being there to accept and celebrate this honor!" she wrote. "I created an unrealistic schedule for myself which leads me to this announcement!"
"I am sending so much love and peace into the world right now because THAT'S what we need most!"

To my dearest fans & all of those watching @teenchoicefox ! I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for presenting me with #TheUltimateChoiceAward !
