A Viral Tweet Claimed The "Mental-Health Crisis" From The Pandemic Was "Minimal," And People Responded With Some Dark, Dark, Dark Humor

"The review did not look at lower-income countries, or specifically focus on children, young people and those with existing problems, the groups most likely affected, experts say, and risks hiding important effects among disadvantaged groups."

Last week, the BBC reported on a meta-analysis published in The British Medical Journal that found the "mental-health crisis from [the] pandemic was minimal."

Mental-health crisis from pandemic was minimal, study suggests https://t.co/mboTLgFv0m

The article literally begins, "People's general mental health and anxiety symptoms hardly deteriorated at all during the pandemic, research suggests." Like, what?!

Furthermore, the BBC still decided to report on the study despite the fact that the "review did not look at lower-income countries, or specifically focus on children, young people and those with existing problems," which, to their credit, they did state in the story.

As you can imagine, the tweet/study did not sit right with, well, anyone who lived through the pandemic, whose realities more closely aligned with a World Health Organization report that the pandemic had triggered a "25% increase in [the] prevalence of anxiety and depression worldwide."

People began responding to the tweet with their lockdown behaviors that undermined the questionable study and better reflected what we all went through in 2020. Here are the best ones:
