From iPads To Google X: Star Trek Technology That Came To Life!

Everywhere we go we see technology that was originally featured on board the Star Ship Enterprise. Here are 5 pieces of Trek tech that have made it into our lives!

1. The Communicator

Nowhere days it's called the mobile phone. This was an iconic piece of Star Trek technology remembered for "Beam me up Scotty" and the first mobile phone followed the design from this. If only you could get Tinder or StarfleetSingles.com on this thing!

2. The Visor

From this inspired Google’s top secret division, Google X. The Visor used for Lt Commander Geordi LaForge who was born blind and so he could see in the 24th Century, is now being progressed by other technology brands. Lets see what the future holds.

3. PADDs

In 2010 the very first iPad was launched which is remarkably similar to the 1960’s Star Trek PADD. Starfleet Yeomans would frantically pass this to Captain Kirk asking for a signature to confirm vital shipboard operations. They are the spitting image!

4. The Phaser

Our version of this unforgettable Star Trek item is called the Dazzler which sends a pulse of electromagnetic radiation which can stop someone cold in their tracks.

5. In-ear comms

Lt Uhuru was well known for using the first in-ear comms . Originally designed for ship to ship communications the device is instantly recognizable to a Bluetooth device!
