Construct A Floor Exercise Routine To See If Your Olympic Dreams Come True

All floor exercises must have a leap series. What shall be yours?

Your performance in event finals brought the house down. The crowd's enthusiastic roaring echoes in your ears as you salute the judges, and your coach greets you at the foot of the podium stairs with their arms wide open. You are swiftly picked up by your other coach as you frantically wave to the audience. The party doesn't stop until that gold medal hangs around your neck, shiny and new.

Olympic Floor Exercise Champion

Your performance marked the best of your life. And when your score was posted, you thought it was high enough to keep you in the medals. The judges might have had something else in mind, however. When all is said and done, you've ended up in a tie with the last gymnast to perform. Her routine was not as difficult, but she had executed it almost flawlessly, while you had taken some minor shuffles which added up. The tie breaker was the higher execution score, leaving you out of the medals. You are still proud of your performance, waving with dignity to the crowd who was on your side.

On the second day of Olympic Trials, you went up on floor for the last rotation. The crowd was at an all time high, and you nailed that routine like you never had. It's enough to vault you into the conversation of the selection committee for a good 2 minutes. They were wowed, and definitely think you could contribute to the team score. You hear your name in the locker room, and the tears and laughter just keep on coming.

Olympic Team Member!

You're definitely a great athlete with a ton of power. You can potentially medal on floor, and could contribute on the other events for sure. But...the selection committee feels like something was missing at trials. You had barely scraped by at nationals. There were glimmers of stardom in your trials performances, but the selection committee wants to send the most polished team possible, and your poor form at times really hindered the possibility of making the team this year.

Olympic Alternate

You're an experience competitor, and your hard work pays off when you make Olympic Trials. Only the top gymnasts in your country make it to this elite stage of the Olympic selection competition. The pressure should be off. Just play with the crowd and have fun!

So you didn't have the best of competitions at a qualifying meet for nationals. The upgrades you made weren't enough for your skillset. You still walk away with the confidence that you were able to perform in front of thousands of people. [Who knows? Maybe you'll just magically switch countries at the last minute, possibly taking the spot of another athlete who's more naturally gifted than you and the chance to compete at the Olympics will change their life, but they'll never find out about how much positive impact the Olympic experience will have because that opportunity was taken away by, that's right, you. But that would never happen, right? ;) ]
