I Tried To Communicate With A Haunted Doll

Does she have a message from beyond the grave?

This is my haunted doll.

I bought her off eBay two years ago and she's been sitting on my desk at work ever since. Her name is Mary, according to the seller. One time I took her to a psychic to get a professional's opinion on whether or not she was haunted. (The psychic said yes, very haunted.)

But I decided to take matters into my own hands and see if I could communicate with Mary directly. I got several ghost communication tools–a ouija board, dowsing rods, and a pendulum. I got them all online. I didn't even have to go to an enchanted bookstore or anything.

Here is my attempt to communicate with Mary:

I had never used a Ouija board before. I was always too scared of opening a portal to the spirit world and making my environment super haunted. But I decided to see if I could use it to talk to Mary.

I ended up contacting a ghost named Thomas who was born in 1867 (according to him). Apparently ghosts can lie over the Ouija board. We had to end the session when we contacted a spirit who said it was born in the year "0" and then made several figure eights. Apparently that's quite evil.

Dowsing rods, or divining rods, are sticks made of conductive metal. Mine are copper. You're supposed to be able to use them to communicate with spirits, but it's a whole thing. You hold the rods as still as you possibly can, and ask the spirits what a yes and no answer will look like. With any luck, the rods move and cross in different directions, one way for yes and a different way for no.

I was shocked and horrified when the rods moved for me.

I'm sure there's a scientific explanation for how the rods move on their own but I'm too lazy to look it up and I'll continue to assume that it's ghosts. The rods told me that there is, in fact, a ghost associated with the doll and confirmed that she died as a child. The rods also said "yes" when asked if Mary is a nice spirit, so that's a huge relief. But, sadly, the rods also said she wasn't currently in the room available to rod-chat.

A pendulum works much like dowsing rods to communicate with spirits. You ask the spirits to swing the pendulum in one direction for yes and the opposite direction for no and then ask it yes or no questions. But the pendulum is quite tricky to use and I was very bad at it. Probably because as I was trying to make the pendulum work, I felt the horrifying sensation of something touching my neck. I was alone in the room. It easily could've been my imagination but I was not into it.

My attempt to communicate with Mary yielded a lot of weird, ghostly action, but not a lot of specific contact with the alleged ghost of Mary herself. If you have a very specific ghost you want to talk to, it may be hard to reach them. I'm not sure if I made my office haunted (Or more haunted? It is a 100+ year old building) by doing this, but I do feel a little less easy hanging around at night.
