Hikkaduwa, or ‘Hikka’ as it is usually referred to, is one of the most popular coastal areas of Sri Lanka. It is a renowned place for beach parties, EDM events and a surfing destination.

The Coral Sanctuary / Via

The Hikkaduwa National Park is one of three such parks within the island, and features a thriving coral reef located off the coast. There’s wonder in abundance here, so if you’re staying at a nearby resort such as Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon, a visit to this sanctuary is definitely worth a shot.

The Experience / Via

Visitors to the park can rent snorkelling gear for about 600LKR for two hours. More ambitious and seasoned visitors can opt to embark on a scuba-diving experience to gain maximum thrills.

Endangered Creatures / Via

Hawksbill Turtles are now critically endangered yet can be found without too much difficulty around the waters of Hikkaduwa. On a trip to this marine sanctuary you can witness these majestic creatures and many more.
