What is Walmart planning for Black Friday this year?

Something special! Instead of one day of savings, Walmart is promoting “Black Friday Deals for Days.” That means, not one, not two, but three different times during the month of November to shop for Black Friday deals starting online and then continuing in stores. Think of them as events in and of themselves!

Event 1: Begins online at Walmart.com on Wednesday, November 4th at 7 p.m. EST with new deals in stores on Saturday, November 7th starting at 5 a.m. local time and online at 12 a.m. EST.

What do I need to know about store hours for Black Friday 2020 at Walmart?

Well, for the first time in more than 30 years, Walmart brick and mortar locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26).

Walmart stores will open at 5 a.m. local time on Black Friday(s) for in-store event days (November 7th, 14th, and 27th).

Will Black Friday at Walmart be different this year because of COVID-19?

Most assuredly it will be a different shopping experience!

"Customers will form a single, straight line to enter the store. Associates will hand out sanitized shopping carts to customers to help with social distancing, and Health Ambassadors will be placed at entrances to greet customers and remind them to put on a mask."

While no maximum number of customers has officially been set for stores, recently they've operated at 20% of a particular store's capacity (that's about five customers per 1,000 square feet). However, for this year's Black Friday, "Walmart will meter customers into the store to help reduce congestion and promote social distancing inside stores."

Additionally there will be:

Sneeze guards and plastic barriers will be placed at checkouts (and other points of sale) to protect customers and employees.

Floor stickers and in-store announcements will remind shoppers of the need to socially distance.

And, of course, face masks and other face-coverings will be required for all customers and employees inside of Walmart stores. If that's an issue (and, honestly, it shouldn't be) there are other shopping options for you (see below).

Will there be contactless options at Walmart locations?

Yes! Contactless payment options will be available at any in-store register when you use Walmart Pay via the Walmart app.

Walmart will also offer contactless pickup (with more specific details to follow for Black Friday) so you'll be able to order online and pick-up your purchases (safely) at the designated outside location.

But what if I'm still not able to make it to an actual Walmart for Black Friday 2020? Will I miss out on all of the deals?

No! Walmart will be offering deals online well in advance of Black Friday (which we'll be updating as they become available). That means you'll be able to get a jump start on holiday shopping and scoring some good deals.

Walmart has increased inventory for more recently in-demand product categories like sporting good and exercise equipment, electronics (TV, laptops, and video games), toys (puzzles, games, Legos), kitchen appliances, and, for the most favorite member of the family, more pet products.

But in addition to increasing their stock, Walmart is also looking to add "20,000 seasonal associates in its eCommerce fulfillment centers across the country.”

This will open up same-day delivery options on 160,000+ items, some of which can be delivered to your door within two-hours (pending eligibility and customer location).

Online shoppers will be able to qualify for "Free NextDay" or "Free Two-Day Shipping" on orders over $35 (again, pending eligibility and customer location).

Now would also be a great time to check out Walmart+ if you're thinking about shopping online and receiving home delivery service.
