24 Products For New Parents To Pack On Their First Trip With Their Kid

That first trip with a baby is a doozy, so we've compiled this list of road-tested products that make traveling with your progeny much more manageable.

    1. A lightweight Evenflo "Otto" self-folding stroller that can be opened and closed with one hand, which is clutch because you'll most likely be holding the baby with the other! Drives well, travels well, and fits almost anywhere.

    2. A six-pack of Munchkin jumbo microwave bottle sterilizer bags so you can thoroughly disinfect bottles or breastfeeding equipment by eliminating 99.9% of the most common bacteria and germs. Just add water and pop it in the microwave for as little as 90 seconds.

    3. A Philips fast baby bottle warmer because babies want, nay demand, that their babas are above room temperature, and you know there will be hell to pay if they're not.

    4. A clippable baby changing station and diaper clutch with enough room for several nappies and a pack of wipes to turn every clean (hopefully) flat surface into a changing table.

    5. A Graco Pack and Play featuring a removable, full-size bassinet and a bar for soft mobile-like toys, so babies can nap and sleep comfortably anywhere when traveling. It's especially helpful if it's already used regularly at home because it creates a familiar environment for snoozing.

    6. A pack of four leakproof, TSA-approved travel bottles for all of the lotions and potions that babies require without having to travel with all of those full-size bottles taking up extra space.

    7. A simple and sort of splurgey (but totally worth it) Marimekko Iso Milla bag that will seemingly fit every little baby bauble you'll need easy and immediate access to on your trip.

    8. A portable window blackout curtain shade so the fussiest of little sleepers can snooze in brand-new locales. Suction cups attach to the window, while velcro edges allow for some size customization. It's lights out for, well, light!

    9. A four-pack of baby pacifier clips for all those times yet another binky needs to be washed and replaced when it falls on the floor. The pacifier is one item to which the "five-second rule" does not apply, especially if it falls in an airport or on a plane.

Four multi-colored short straps with white clips on one end and buttonholes on the other

    10. A two-pack of baby's first sunglasses made with flexible rubberized plastic material so the little hands can't break them with any twisting or bending. Plus, every baby looks cool wearing these!

    11. An 18-pack of unscented dog poop bags with a dispenser because, now hear me out here, you're not going to be traveling with a Diaper Genie, but you're still going to have to deal with dirty, stinky diapers piling up.

    12. A two-pack of spill-proof, dishwasher-safe Munchkin snack catchers for packing some munchies while keeping crumbs to a minimum on land, sea, or air.

    13. A set of eight packing cubes that'll help first-time parent packers group all of the different types of items (clothes, food, toys, creams, etc.) they'll need to haul on their maiden voyage with child.

    14. A lightweight (but powerful), wood-grained finish Douni sleep sound machine with 24 soothing sounds for keeping the little kids fast asleep at home and while traveling.

This was the third (maybe fourth) white noise machine I purchased for my baby/toddler's room and it's still getting the job done after nearly a year. There's a lot of city traffic and a very busy intersection outside our apartment windows and the Douni masks all of it (except for the occasional blaring ambulance siren). The wood grain is a nice change of pace from all the other white, black, metallic gadgets populating our home. Super powerful sound too! We've also taken this one all of our trips and it's worked just as well there too and brought some much-needed consistency to sleepy time.

Get it from Amazon for $35.97.

    15. An Ergobaby Omni 360 all-position baby carrier because a stroller (even a travel model) can't go everywhere or handle certain terrains. Sometimes it's just easier to strap the kid to your torso freeing up both of your hands.

    16. A Stasher reusable food bag that not only helps to phase out unrecyclable single-use plastics but can be used for packing just about anything (snacks, toys, medicine, changing supplies, etc.) contained and organized in your travel bag.

    17. A rechargeable, three-speed flexible stroller fan so the kids (and you) can keep cool while you're out strolling under the hot sun or if things are getting a little stuffy on your trip.

    18. An organic muslin fitted crib sheet because the cribs or pack-and-plays that some hotels provide probably aren't as clean and sanitary as you'd like them to be!

    19. A 110-piece mini first aid kit for any boo-boos that might happen on your trip (and they will). This pack has it all and should probably live in your car when you return from your trip.

    20. An inflatable bathtub because even though you're on vacation, you still have to wash that kid, and unless otherwise requested, most hotel/motel rooms don't have a tub.

    21. A portable and foldable baby high chair so your little dining companion always has a comfortable, safe, and secure place to sit at the table.

    22. A breastmilk chiller storage container that keeps priceless momma milk chilled for 20+ hours (even longer if you add ice). The best part? Parents can pump right into the container!

    23. A two-pack of stackable, BPA-free baby powder formula dispensers so you can easily dispense perfectly measured and mixed babas every time without making a mess (or wasting precious formula).

    24. A 5-pack of travel-sized squeeze bottles with a holder to hang from a bag, a belt loop, or any other easily accessible area so you're not always fumbling (or losing) that very necessary hand sanitizer.

Now that you know what to pack, you can finally start to enjoy that first trip as a new parent...
