The Shard skyscraper in central London is being lit up every night until the end of the 2014. It looks spectacular:

Well done everyone.

But it does remind us of something...

The London skyscraper has a different light show every night until the end of the year.
This photo, taken by the Metropolitan Police helicopter, shows the 40-storey bank of lights in action on Friday night.
According to ITV News the display consists of "eight high power search lights, 184 giant LED 'pixels', 68 colour changing moving lights, 184 strobe lights and ten of the world's largest smoke machines".
There's a different display every night, designed by London's Jason Bruges studio.
On New Year's Eve they will be co-ordinated with London's fireworks display.
