14 Hilarious Scenes From Horror Movies That No One Was Remotely Prepared For

If laughing at these is wrong I don't wanna be right.

Some of my favorite horror movies are the ones that are also very funny (whether they're supposed to be or not).

What can I say, I love to laugh.

Here are some of the horror movie moments that always crack me up, no matter how many times I watch them:

1. The "Fucking hand sanitizer?!" scene in the new Scream

I love Mikey Madison in Scream and her delivery of this line is hilarious. 10/10, no notes.

2. Samuel L. Jackson being eaten by a shark in Deep Blue Sea

Warner Bros.

Punctuating Russell's big, dramatic, inspiring speech with one of the sharks popping up and eating him is perfect comedic timing. I honestly don't know if it's supposed to be funny or not, but it kills me (so to speak) every time I watch it.

3. Jason Voorhees being telekinetically attacked with a couch in Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood

The fact that the protagonist in the seventh Friday the 13th movie has telekinesis will never not be funny, and her using her mind to throw a whole-ass couch at Jason is the icing on the cake.

4. Taking out the garbage in Silent Night, Deadly Night 2

Despite it being roughly the same age as I am, I managed to miss the iconic "GARBAGE DAY" line from this movie until I watched it last year. As far as I'm concerned, Eric Freeman deserved an award for that line delivery alone. What award, I do not know, but an award.

5. The "NOT THE BEES" scene in the 2006 Wicker Man remake

6. The end of The Mist

Okay, I know on paper killing a handful of people (including your own child) so they won't be eaten by monsters, only to find out it was completely unnecessary just moments later is not funny.

However, between the music, Thomas Jane's strangled cries, and Melissa McBride just staring at him as she passes by on a military truck, the execution of this scene is absolutely hysterical.

7. Half the deaths in Blood Rage

If you haven't watched this movie about an evil twin escaping a psychiatric hospital and killing all his brothers' friends, you need to. At one point someone gets cut in half and both halves keep moving around for like 15 seconds.

8. Ms. Lewton's death in Final Destination

This is such a Rube Goldberg machine-ass death it's impossible not to laugh. Ms. Lewton's reactions to her stove suddenly blowing up and the knife falling into her chest are fantastic (shoutout to the actor, Kristen Cloke), and topped off with Alex's "oh no I just put my fingerprints all over the knife that killed her" expression, it might be the funniest scene in the whole movie.

9. And Brian's death in Final Destination 2

There are around 40 death scenes over the course of the Final Destination franchise (and more to come once the sixth movie comes out), but Ms. Lewton's and Brian's are the only ones that don't gross me out or make me fear for my life. I know a teen dying isn't funny, but Brian's death was so shocking it startled me into laughter.

10. When Jamie gets chased by bullies in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

Jamie's classmates screaming "JAMIE'S AN ORPHAN" at her over and over is giving Angela from Stranger Things — it's so ridiculous and over-the-top you have to laugh.

11. The Gabriel reveal in Malignant

On top of being absolutely batshit, the prison fight scene, intercut with the surgery footage and flashbacks, is peak comedy — specifically the prisoners' reactions to the appearance of Gabriel. The one with the blonde mullet is the MVP of the whole movie.

12. The "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" scene in I Know What You Did Last Summer

This is one of those scenes that didn't register as funny to me as a kid, but as an adult, it cracks me up every time I watch it. It's just so dramatic! There's a reason it was spoofed in Scary Movie.

13. The blender scene in You're Next

You're Next is one of my favorite examples of ~well-blended~ horror and comedy, and the death-by-blender scene is just one of its many gruesome yet hilarious moments.

14. Bradley Whitford being eaten by the merman in Cabin in the Woods

This movie is full of (intentionally) funny moments, but for me, nothing beats watching Bradley Whitford finally getting to see the merman — only to be eaten by the damn thing (which happens to be absolutely hideous).
