This Genius Sandwich Hack Makes Packing Your Kid's Lunch A Breeze

Get a head start on the school week.

Packing your kid's lunch every day can be a challenge.

Between making breakfast and getting your kids out of bed, making lunch in the morning can seem impossible.

The best way to solve that? Get a head start on the week by making a batch of crustless sandwiches and freezing them for the week. Here's a smart way that'll save you time and mess during the week:

First, flatten two pieces of sandwich bread using a rolling pin:

Then, place your fillings in the center:

Place the other slice on top and cut into a circle using a glass or large cookie cutter:

Crimp the edges using a fork and transfer them into baggies:

Label everything, and store in the freezer for the week or eat them right away:

Here are four freezer-friendly ideas to get you started:

1. PB&J

2. French Toast

FRENCH TOAST

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

2 slices of soft whole wheat bread

1 strawberry, thinly sliced

3 blueberries

¼ teaspoon cinnamon sugar (equal parts cinnamon and sugar)

1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)

Maple syrup, for serving (optional)

Using a rolling pin, flatten both pieces of bread. Place strawberry slices, blueberries, and cinnamon sugar in the center of one slice of bread and place the remaining slice on top. Cut into a circle using a small cup and crimp the edges using a fork.

Serving suggestion: To prepare like traditional French toast, melt butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat and cook until browned on both sides, about 4 minutes. Serve with maple syrup.

3. Pepperoni Pizza

PEPPERONI PIZZA

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

2 slices of soft whole wheat bread

2 slices of mozzarella

3 slices of pepperoni

1 tablespoon marinara sauce

Using a rolling pin, flatten both pieces of bread. Place one mozzarella slice on top of one slice of bread. Top with pepperoni and marinara sauce and place remaining slices of cheese and bread on top. Cut into a circle using a small cup and crimp the edges using a fork.

Serving suggestion: For a crusty outside and melted inside, bake on a parchment-lined sheet tray for 5-10 minutes in a 350ºF oven until golden brown.

4. Nutella S’mores

NUTELLA S'MORES

Serves 1

INGREDIENTS

2 slices of soft whole wheat bread

1 tablespoon Nutella

1 tablespoon crushed graham crackers

1 tablespoon marshmallow fluff

Powdered sugar, for serving (optional)

Using a rolling pin, flatten both pieces of bread. Spread Nutella in the center of both slices and place graham crackers and marshmallow fluff in the center of one. Place the other slice of bread on top and cut into a circle using a small cup and crimp the edges using a fork.

Serving suggestion: Microwave on high for 10 seconds until the center is melted and serve with powdered sugar.

Let's eat!
