Chrissy Teigen Has A Clever Trick For Making The Crispiest Potatoes Ever

Because crispy roasted potatoes are so much better than pale, soggy ones.

Chrissy Teigen — everyone's favorite model, cookbook author, and TV personality — has a lot of opinions when it comes to food.

Opinions like turkey sucks — and, to be fair, it does. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She's also quite a cook herself, writing two cookbooks and sharing the occasional cooking tip on her Instagram page.

One of her tips I recently came across? Her trick for making super crispy roasted potatoes.

The secret? Teigen suggests preheating your roasting pan in the oven for 10 minutes before you add your potatoes.

"Heat the pan of oil for 10 minutes before pouring on your potatoes, flip halfway through," read Teigen's caption.

While fairy simple, the technique seems to have quite a following online, and several people swear by the technique for cooking various items from chicken breasts to French fries.

Think of it this way: If you were going to make crispy potatoes on the stovetop, you would preheat your skillet with a little bit of oil before you add them, so why would cooking them in the oven be any different? 🤔 Ten minutes in a 350°F oven is long enough to get your oiled pan nice and hot — resulting in much crispier (aka more delicious) roasted potatoes — and flipping them halfway through helps to crisp them up on all sides.

So the next time you make roasted potatoes (or any roasted veggie that you want to get crispy), go ahead and preheat an oiled pan in the oven for 10 minutes — a tablespoons or two of olive oil should be enough.

"You'll never have chewy potatoes again," says Teigen.
