When I was in high school, my first love (a la “Moonrise Kingdom”) moved to another state. We tried to make it work, but the feels were too much to handle eventually. I ended it by being an insensitive ass, thinking that would help make it seem less serious. These lyrics really got to me when we were trying to make it work, and even still when I hear the song (many regrets and over six years later) “I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then I could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
There’d be no distance that could hold us back”
I still think in some childlike sense that we were meant for each other.
Response to 14 Songs To Drink Alone To:
I’m so sorry for myself for reading this list. Mad Dog for Frightened Rabbit? AGH Frightened Rabbit reminds me of drinking shitty Lionshead in my mom’s basement in college. Mad Dog reminds me of listening to Mogwai in my grandma’s house and projectile vomiting out the window.
HODOR! HODOR HODOR HODOR HODOR!
