I Let My Cat Make All The Picks For My 2021 NFL Mock Draft

Kassie put on her finest suit and created her first mock draft for all you wonderful people. Sure, it took some treats to motivate her, but her picks are as gutsy as she is adorable.

*Note: No trades in this mock draft. When I asked her if she wanted to add them, she just licked her paw and walked away.*

The picks are in, so let us begin!

1. The Jacksonville Jaguars select Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson.

Trevor Lawrence is going number one...not even Kassie can deny it.

Jaguars get their golden boy, and Urban Meyer gets to build his team the way he wants with a quarterback who is maybe more hyped than John Elway.

2. The New York Jets select Zach Wilson, QB, BYU.

Another year, another new QB1 for the Jets. They have to hit on one eventually, right?

3. The San Francisco 49ers select Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State.

A bit of a surprise because a lot of people have Mac Jones going third, but Kassie apparently smells a smokescreen.

4. The Atlanta Falcons select Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida.

Maybe the biggest all-around talent in the draft. The Falcons have other needs, but why not take the best player off the board if they don't go QB?

5. The Cincinnati Bengals select Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU.

This man has "elite" written all over him. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow gets his former teammate who helped him earn his Heisman Trophy.

6. The Miami Dolphins select Devonta Smith, WR, Alabama.

Maybe one of the most shocking picks in Kassie's mock draft. Reigning Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith is plenty talented, but there is a lot of talent still on the board inside this top 10, and they have other needs.

7. The Detroit Lions select Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State.

There are a lot of people out there who think Parsons is the best defensive player in this draft, and apparently Kassie is one of them.

8. The Carolina Panthers select Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon.

Sam Darnold gets a boost of protection on the front line of his new offense.

9. The Denver Broncos select Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State.

Probably the rawest quarterback prospect in the front end of the draft, but his numbers speak for themselves. D-I, D-3, D-23, it doesn't matter — a 28–0 touchdown-interception ratio is impressive.

10. The Dallas Cowboys select Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama.

A match that seems too good to be true, so it probably won't happen, but Surtain would be a much-needed piece on the Cowboys defense that they could build around. That defense was not the prettiest last season, giving up a little more than 29 points per game last season.

11. The New York Giants select Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami.

Well, Kassie appears to have her first team reaching in the draft, and it comes by way of Rousseau. Should be a great pass rusher, but a lot of mocks have him going in the twenties or early second round. It might be better for them to trade back if they loved a player like him.

12. The Philadelphia Eagles select Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama.

Injuries plagued Waddle's season last year, but he looks electric when he does play. I hate Kassie having the Eagles double-dip at wide receiver in back-to-back drafts, but it's a new era in Philly, and they will want to put plenty of weapons around Hurts.

13. The Los Angeles Chargers select Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern.

If Slater falls to the Chargers, they better consider taking him. Even Kassie knows you got to protect your quarterback, and Slater will be a versatile player on the offensive line.

14. The Minnesota Vikings select Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech.

I don't know about this one, but Kassie isn't shedding at all after this selection. It's a comfortable pick that Minnesota fans won't go nuts over, but he is a day one starter if healthy.

15. The New England Patriots select Mac Jones, QB, Alabama.

Odds are the Patriots would have to trade up to land Jones, but since Kassie doesn't do trades in her mocks, she has him falling to Belichick at 15.

16. The Arizona Cardinals select Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech.

Kassie is not afraid to go against popular opinion, and I am shocked she has Farley going ahead of Jaycee Horn. It could easily happen on draft day, and he would fill a need with Patrick Peterson gone.

17. The Las Vegas Raiders select Kwity Paye, edge, Michigan.

Take the best player, Las Vegas. If that is a pass rusher, so be it.

They are in prime position to get players who will fall, and Paye is a great pickup here and adds to an already young pass-rushing group.

18. The Miami Dolphins select Najee Harris, RB, Alabama.

Kassie believes in second-year QB Tua Tagovailoa for the Dolphins, but I'm skeptical.

Harris would rejoin Alabama teammate Devonta Smith to help the Dolphins make a push for a potentially loaded AFC East division in the coming years.

19. The Washington Football Team select Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina.

I feel like a lot of people, including my lovely cat Kassie, are sleeping on Horn. WFT gets a legitimate corner that could push them to be one of the best defenses in the NFL.

20. The Chicago Bears select Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State.

I feel for you, Bear fans. Jenkins is the kind of player fans will fall in love with, and I know the fanbase is desperate for their QB prayers to be answered, but Jenkins is an animal on the offensive line.

Kassie has her paws crossed that Chicago looks at quarterbacks in later rounds or even finds one via trade.

21. The Indianapolis Colts select Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama.

It may feel like a reach, but put on the 2021 National Championship and watch #58. Barmore will only beef up an already special group of Colts defenders, and if Carson Wentz can rejuvenate his career, Barmore and the defense could jolt this team to a higher seed in the playoffs.

22. The Tennessee Titans select Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC.

Arguably the most versatile lineman in the draft class, Vera-Tucker could be a good course correction after they drafted an o-lineman in the first round last year who is no longer in the league.

23. The New York Jets select Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson.

I don't like this pick at all, but Kassie is all about getting weapons around your quarterback. I'm sure Zach Wilson would love having Etienne in his backfield, but the Jets better beef up the offensive line, too.

24. The Pittsburgh Steelers select Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa.

Maybe my favorite player in the draft, and the Patriots fan in me would be fuming if the Steelers landed him.

Kassie clearly believes that going best player in this situation is best, and taking a running back later is the way to go.

25. The Jacksonville Jaguars select Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama.

Love it. Protect Trevor Lawrence. Is Leatherwood a bit of a reach? Sure. But if they are confident they can plug him in with Lawrence in week one, good for them.

26. The Cleveland Browns select Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame.

Avoid this man...I don't mean drafting him, I mean running from him. He's an awesome tackler and seems like a grade A–character guy who will be a captain in no time. Browns are looking less and less like the Browns everyone has made fun of for decades, and this pick would only remind people that they are doing things right from now on.

27. The Baltimore Ravens select Azeez Ojulari, edge, Georgia.

After they traded with the Chiefs for pick 31, I don't love this pick, but Kassie wants them to improve the pass rush. Don't sleep on them using both picks to move up the draft board.

28. The New Orleans Saints select Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern.

Saints had to say goodbye to the best thing that ever happened to them in Drew Brees, so what comes next? Staying the course. This pick is a good blend of need and value; plus, Kassie gave me a head nuzzle during this selection, so how can I hate on her?

29. The Green Bay Packers select Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame.

At this point, I feel like my cat is just trolling the Green Bay fanbase, but hear her out: With injuries last season on the offensive line, they can't afford to lose Aaron Rodgers.

That being said...I think Eichenberg, although a solid player, is a bit of a reach.

30. The Buffalo Bills select Elijah Moore, WR, Ole Miss.

Wide receiver galore for Kassie. Moore is a solid prospect, and the potential of him lining up with Stefon Diggs is pretty scary for defenses. If Josh Allen has officially made the jump to being a top-tier quarterback, he is going to have plenty to work with.

31. The Baltimore Ravens select Terrace Marshall Jr., WR, LSU.

A great wideout who lost his Heisman-winning quarterback last season, so people are sleeping on him. The Ravens aren't afraid to take a receiver first round, as they have proved year after year.

Seriously, though...I'm checking Kassie's catnip to make sure it is okay. This is another year with a lot of receivers going in the first round.

32. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue.

Come on, Kassie! Another receiver!? That makes six to finish the round.

The defending champs go high risk, high reward with Moore, who looks like a lightning bolt on the field. If he can stay healthy, he is a legitimate weapon who adds speed to the receiving corps.

• Only four, not five, quarterbacks go top 10.

• Justin Fields lands in San Francisco, despite speculation it's Mac Jones as a done deal.

• Six wide receivers go first round.

• In a league where running backs aren't often taken first round, she has two going in the top 23.

• The Packers skip out on a wide receiver...again.

• She snubbed great prospects like Miami pass rusher Jaelan Phillips, Penn State pass rusher Jayson Oweh, TCU safety Trevon Moehrig, and offensive tackle Walker Little.

I requested a post-draft comment from Kassie, but her sister, Gray, was too busy giving her an unwanted bath.
