Kristen Bell Explains Why She Doesn't Necessarily Believe In Monogamy

"It's difficult and it requires a lot of vulnerability."

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are one of Hollywood's most beloved married couples — but that doesn't mean their relationship is always easy. In fact, Kristen recently opened up about how hard marriage can be.

And in a new interview in the November issue of Men's Journal, Kristen even explained that she doesn't necessarily believe humans are meant to be in monogamous relationships at all:

I'm quite positive we are not meant to be monogamous. It's difficult, and it requires a lot of attention, vulnerability, and openness.

That's why Kristen and Dax have worked extra hard to understand and appreciate each other — and that's what keeps their bond so strong against the odds:

He's very direct about his emotions and I'm grateful for that because it lets me in on the way he thinks as far as tending to our marriage— when we should go to therapy, when we have to be better at intimacy, all those things in order to meet each other's needs. He's very open about what he needs to stay satisfied in our relationship, because if one partner isn't satisfied, you just kiss it goodbye; somebody's going to stray.

So even though Kristen acknowledges that monogamy is hard, it sounds like she and Dax have figured out what works best in their relationship — and that's all that matters.
