Jon And Sansa On "Game Of Thrones" Might Be Headed In An Interesting Direction

I'm so conflicted. Warning: Spoilers!

OK, now that we're over the initial shock of R+L=J being confirmed and King's Landing exploding, we need to talk about Jon and Sansa in the season finale.

Because I don't know about you, but I have a lot of feelings and some of them are quite conflicted.

First we got this amazing, emotional scene between the two.

Jon acknowledges what Sansa has done and her rightful place as Lady of Winterfell, while Sansa apologises for keeping Jon in the dark about Littlefinger and embraces him as not just a Stark but the Lord of Winterfell.

It was a moment of mutual recognition and appreciation, in which they seemed to finally, fully trust each other.

Topped off with a lovely nod to their family words, and their father.

Then Sansa dealt with Littlefinger like a boss...

And Jon was crowned KING IN THE NORTH.

It was epic, it was triumphant, it was goddamn emotional.

THE NORTH FUCKING REMEMBERED.

But it wasn't entirely straightforward. Because as great as it was... it kinda also would have been amazing to see Sansa crowned Queen in the North.

Between Dany, Yara, Ellaria, and Cersei, the show has well and truly left the War of the Five Kings behind and made it all about the queens. Sansa would be a nice final piece of the puzzle.

Of course, Sansa does seem happy for Jon in this moment, especially after earlier suggesting he take his place as lord of the house.

But then she spots Littlefinger and they exchange this rather worrying look.

It calls to mind their earlier conversation – particularly Littlefinger's last remark to her.

It COULD mean that, knowing Littlefinger's goal, she's worried he will try to hurt Jon, who is now in his way. But it could also be setting the stage for conflict between Sansa and Jon.

Worryingly, in a HBO segment after the show, actors Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, and Liam Cunningham all hint that the latter might be more likely.

Harington says: "[Jon] hasn't actually learnt his lesson … He's asking her to trust him, but he's not listening and watching and observing her. I think that could be a real problem for him."

Turner, meanwhile, adds: "He's named King in the North and she kind of gets no credit for it. … It's not that she's looking for praise or anything. She did it because she wants revenge and also because she wants her home back. Jon is so naïve. So Sansa is just a little bit agitated is all."

And Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos, gives an ominous prediction: "[Jon's] definitely entitled to be running Winterfell, although Sansa may have a problem with that I fear. Her relationship with Jon Snow, I think, is an indication of what's going to come, and I'm not sure it's going to be pretty."

So Sansa may get fed up with Jon and fight to take the title from him. Especially if she learns he's not actually even Ned's son.

On the OTHER hand, some fans think that big reveal might have quite the opposite effect – that it will actually bring Jon and Sansa together. Like, as a couple. And then they would be King and Queen in the North together.

There's no doubt Kit and Sophie have amazing chemistry, and their affectionate moments this season really launched the Jon and Sansa ship to new heights. Within the world of Westeros, cousins marrying is not unheard of or frowned upon (although they were still raised as brother and sister, so...).

Maybe the truth will be much less extreme than either of these options – perhaps Sansa and Jon will work out their differences, as they have done so far, and continue to share a close familial bond.

No matter how it turns out, there's no denying their journey together has been one of the highlights of Season 6.
