It was a huge deal to see these two major characters come together at last. A lot of people were really excited – and many started shipping the pair (if they weren't already).
In a few short episodes, their relationship has progressed on both personal and political levels. They are falling in love and forming an alliance – and Jon Snow even bent the knee.
A lot of people are REALLY into it, against their better judgment.
While others just think it's pretty icky.
Others still think it's forced, or too cheesy. Some people have been comparing it to fanfiction, and suggesting that because the show has passed the books, the plot isn't what George R.R. Martin would want.
But according to an interview with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor, who directed episodes in the most recent season, as well as the first, Martin once revealed that Jon and Daenerys meeting was the whole point of the series.
Speaking to the New York Times, Taylor added, "It was absolutely clear to [George] that within this sprawling scale the whole story was coming down to this partnership."
So there you have it, folks. Love it or loathe it, it looks like the relationship between Jon and Daenerys will be in the books – and is here to stay in the show.
At least until something awful happens to one or both of them. Because this is Game of Thrones... you know the drill.
