This Fan Theory About Daenerys Getting Pregnant Is Pretty Convincing

It will be more surprising if this doesn't happen, tbh.

Love it or loathe it, Jon and Daenerys's relationship has been a focal point of Game of Thrones this season, and in Episode 6 it reached a whole new level.

Politically, Jon bent the knee, and emotionally – well, let's just say there were a lot of meaningful looks. And HAND-HOLDING.

Many fans have been theorising for a while now that not only will Jon and Dany hook up, but that Dany will also get pregnant. Some people believe the baby will be ~the prince that was promised~, while others think that one or both of our heroes will die, and the baby will be their legacy (the chances of them being one big happy family at the end of this are basically zero).

The latest episode really gave credence to this theory, because there were not one, not two, but THREE mentions of children in relation to Dany and Jon. First, there was Tyrion and Dany's argument about succession.

North of the Wall, Jorah gave Jon a very pointed look when suggesting he should keep Longclaw and pass it down to his children.

Finally, at the end of the episode, after the death of Viserion, Dany herself brings up her inability to have children with Jon.

It all goes back to her experience with Mirri Maz Duur in Season 1.

As you probably remember, Dany was heavily pregnant at the time with her unborn son Rhaego, who was prophesied to be the "stallion who mounts the world". Drogo had vowed to take Westeros for Dany and their son, and in preparation, the Dothraki raided a nearby village. Dany was horrified to discover the Dothraki raping every woman they could get their hands on. She stopped some men from raping Mirri Maz Duur, which pissed them off. One of them, Mago, complained to Khal Drogo. Drogo backed Dany up, and Mago attacked him, wounding his shoulder. Drogo brutally killed Mago, and shrugged the wound off as a scratch. Mirri Maz Duur, a healer (and also practitioner of blood magic), volunteered to tend to the wound, and Dany allowed it.

Drogo's wound became infected – no doubt deliberately – and he became deathly ill. Dany begged Mirri Maz Duur to heal him, and she told her she could do so with blood magic, but that "only death can pay for life".

Mirri Maz Duur made Dany believe Drogo's horse's death would pay for his life, but really it cost Dany the life of her unborn child, Rhaego. Drogo, meanwhile, was alive but in a vegetative state. When Dany asked when he would return, Mirri Maz Duur gave a cryptic response that Dany took to mean "never".

Dany explicitly says this in Season 2, when the warlocks of Qarth steal her dragons, and Jorah urges her to abandon them to protect herself.

It's important to note that Dany doesn't just take Mirri Maz Duur's words to mean she can't have children – she also believes they're also the conditions under which Drogo will return to her. This is reiterated when Dany repeats the words before killing Drogo at the end of Season 1.

And again when she does enter the House of the Undying, and has a vision of Drogo and Rhaego.

Well, in the show, we haven't seen the sun rise in the west or set in the east, or seas run dry, or mountains blowing in the wind. But the thing about prophecies is that they're not literal.

UPDATE (CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE FINALE): Well it looks like this theory is more likely than ever. Not only did Jon and Daenerys totally bang in the Season 7 finale, but there was ANOTHER mention of Daenerys' inability to have children, complete with Jon Snow himself casting doubt on the idea.

Oh. My. God.
