"The Door" has to be one of the most devastating Game of Thrones episodes of all time, thanks to the scene that gave it its name.

Hodor died a hero, holding that damn door for dear life, and broke literally all our hearts in the process.

Kristian Nairn, the actor who has played Hodor since Season 1, has tweeted about his heartbreaking exit.

Hodor. Thank you guys, for the love,+ know that I love you back.I never dreamt of all this.Huge props to @SamColemanActor for an amazing job

He and Sam Coleman, the actor who did a brilliant job as young Hodor, had a bit of a mutual love-fest.

Shoutout to @KristianNairn for bringing to life the most lovable character in TV history. 'Twas a pleasure being mini-me to such brilliance.

Honestly, Kristian did such an amazing job at bringing Hodor to life. I couldn't have asked for a better pair of humongous shoes to fill.

In a video about Hodor's sacrifice, Nairn said he felt Hodor's death was very appropriate for his character.

But he reveals it was a difficult to read the death scene for the first time, especially because Hodor is such a lovable character.

Still, he has quite a positive outlook in the end, noting how he outlived many (many!) other characters on the show.

The video also features Isaac Hempstead Wright talking about how everything is Bran's fault (damnit, Bran!). You can watch it in full below.
