Every Song From The High School Musical Movies, Ranked

Sing it with me: We're aaaaaall in this together.

    28. "Humuhumunukunukuapua'a", High School Musical 2

    Disney

Cultural appropriation + this song = the low point of the High School Musical franchise.

    27. "When There Was Me and You", High School Musical

    Disney

This song is entirely forgettable – which is frankly not a bad thing.

    26. "Everyday", High School Musical 2

    Disney

Sorry but it is just so boooooring. And why do Troy and Gabriella look like they're trying to lead a cult?

    25. "Bop to the Top", High School Musical

    Disney

Contrary to what the name suggests, this is unfortunately not a bop and does not, in fact, belong at the top.

    24. "Fabulous", High School Musical 2

    Disney

Sharpay IS fabulous, but the song itself? Not so much. It is very funny though.

    23. "Walk Away", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

Gabriella's solo ballads are sadly some of the more snooze-worthy songs in the High School Musical canon. They're low-key skips.

    22. "Just Wanna Be with You", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

This is cute but it's up against stiff competition and it doesn't quite hold up.

    21. "Gotta Go My Own Way", High School Musical 2

    Disney

Who wants to listen to this just to relive the pain of Troy and Gabriella breaking up over and over again? Yeah, they get back together, but IT STILL HURTS, okay?

    20. "Right Here, Right Now", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

It's fine. Just fine! That's it.

    19. "Work This Out", High School Musical 2

    Disney

A great song, but ultimately not as great as the rest of the ensemble pieces.

    18. "Scream", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

It's not the "Bet On It" it wants to be. Still, it is delightful to see Zac Efron emoting™️ through the halls of his high school in his Wildcats uniform.

    17. "A Night to Remember", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

The dancing and staging is great and very entertaining! The song itself is fun too, just not as fun as some of the others.

    16. "Now or Never", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

It's wonderful, but it doesn't really add anything that "Get'cha Head in the Game" didn't already achieve two movies earlier (and with a much better beat).

    15. "All For One", High School Musical 2

    Disney

The pool-side grand finale to the second movie, it's catchy as hell. We're REALLY heading into the stiff competition here, though.

    14. "High School Musical", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

Look it's a little on the nose, but finishing out the trilogy with an anthem featuring the title just felt right.

    13. "Can I Have This Dance?", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

It's so romantic and swoon-worthy! They dance in the rain! But it doesn't really move the plot forward.

    12. "Stick to the Status Quo", High School Musical

    Disney

I mean, it includes the line: "It's just dancing! Sometimes I think it's cooler than homework." Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing, I'm still undecided.

    11. "Start of Something New", High School Musical

    Disney

Ah, literally the start of it all. It's like no karaoke I've ever seen, but do I love it? Absolutely yes.

    10. "What Time Is It?", High School Musical 2

    Disney

If you don't answer "SUMMERTIME!" or "PARTY TIME!" whenever someone asks you "what time is it?" are you even a High School Musical fan?

    9. "Breaking Free", High School Musical

    Disney

Troy and Gabriella had many duets after this, but it's hard to let go of how iconic this one was. Especially the SOAAARIN! FLYYYIN! bit.

    8. "You Are the Music in Me", High School Musical 2

    Disney

Okay but THIS was actually Troy and Gabriella's best song together. It was more low-key than some of the others, but so sweet and catchy.

    7. "I Want It All", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

Ryan and Sharpay's numbers were hit and miss – but this one was definitely a hit. It says everything you need to know about their characters, and it's a certified banger.

    6. "I Don't Dance", High School Musical 2

    Disney

This is one of the most underrated songs in the High School Musical franchise. If you don't know it off by heart, well, that's your bad taste.

    5. "Bet On It", High School Musical 2

    Disney

There are few things more iconic than Zac Efron dancing out his anger and emotions on a golf course. Truly it's a thing of beauty.

    4. "The Boys Are Back", High School Musical 3: Senior Year

    Disney

YEAH THE BOYS! This song is so ridiculous, but if you aren't smiling within three seconds of it starting then there's something seriously wrong with you.

    3. "What I've Been Looking For", High School Musical

    Disney

This is the prefect introduction to Ryan and Sharpay. It's a little weird but A LOT entertaining. Troy and Gabriella could never (sorry guys I love you).

    2. "Get'cha Head in the Game", High School Musical

    Disney

The way the sound of the basketballs is incorporated into the song? GENIUS. It's unfortunate Zac Efron himself isn't singing on this track, but it doesn't stop it from being one of the best in the series.

    1. "We're All in This Together", High School Musical

    Disney

    BECAUSE OF COURSE.
