Barely anyone made it through childhood without a crush on Atreyu from The Neverending Story.
From the moment he appeared on screen, you were captivated by him.
Your heart soared along with him when he rode triumphant on Falkor's back.
And it absolutely broke when Atreyu's horse Artax got stuck in the Swamp of Sadness.
Needless to say, Atreyu left a lasting impression. Noah Hathaway, the actor who played him, was just 13 when the movie was released in 1984.
And this is what he looks like today, aged 43.
Side note: yes, The Neverending Story came out THIRTY YEARS AGO.
Noah has continued acting intermittently over the years, most recently starring in 2012's Sushi Girl and 2013's Blue Dream.
He taught dance for awhile in the 1980s, before going on to compete in martial arts and motorcycle racing.
He is currently working on war movie Burden of Freedom as a producer and actor.
No word on whether he still cries about Artax.
