Let's Talk About How Hilarious Arnold Schwarzenegger's Movies Actually Are

There's a reason we were all quoting "it's not a tumour!" in the '90s.

In Terminator: Dark Fate, Arnold Schwarzenegger fully leans into the absurdity of playing an aging reformed literal killing machine. His moments on screen provide some of the funniest of the film.

It’s a call back to the humour and heart that made the T-800 so memorable in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

There's a reason why T2 is the best in the franchise – and, indeed, the whole action genre.

It's not just the humour, of course – but it's certainly a big part of what made it a classic.

Here’s the thing: Arnold Scwarzenegger is famous for being an action hero. But actually, all his best roles have been comedic.

Take Twins, for example – an underrated icon which we as a culture just do not talk about enough.

Then there's Total Recall, another action movie to be true, but one with a heavy dose of comedy that works brilliantly.

The same goes for True Lies, in which Schwarzenegger's character's double identity allows for a lot of hilarious moments.

And we can't forget about Kindergarten Cop, which still has action elements but dials up the comedy even more.

Last Action Hero is one of Schwarzenegger's best performances, mainly because he absolutely revels in satirising his own persona.

Then there's Junior, in which he plays a scientist who impregnates himself with Emma Thompson's baby with the help of Danny DeVito.

For a holiday bonus there's even Jingle All the Way, which is frankly ridiculous and over-the-top but damn if Arnie doesn't have fun with it.

Basically, you combine any of these movies in a marathon and you're guaranteed a good time.
