Two Black Queer Characters Won "Best Kiss" And People Couldn't Be Happier

    Moonlight actors Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome were the winners of this year's MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss, much to everyone's delight.

    Other nominees included kisses from La La Land, Beauty and the Beast, and Empire.

    While accepting the fan-voted award, Sanders dedicated it to "the misfits".

    “I think it’s safe to say that it is okay for young performers, especially us minority performers, to step out of the box,” he said. “This award is for that. It’s for artists who need to step out of the box and do whatever it takes to tell a story and whatever it takes to make a change, to get people to wake up.

    "This award is bigger than Jharrel and I; this represents more than a kiss. This is for those who feel like 'the others,' 'the misfits.'"

    It's pretty exciting that a young audience voted for two black men to win Best Kiss, and people are understandably over the moon.
