These are loaded fries. And for once, Australia actually gets something BEFORE the rest of the world.
Last week, McDonald's Australia started serving up these bad boys, which aren't available anywhere else internationally (yet).
Basically, Macca's have taken its amazing fries of perfection and added either bacon and cheese sauce, or salsa and guac.
Just when you thought their fries couldn't get any better.
We decided to put them to the ultimate test: our faces.
The salsa and guac fries certainly were loaded.
The cheese and bacon variety, on the other hand, are much drier.
According to the Macca's rep we spoke to, it is possible to order ONE serving of fries with BOTH the toppings. So we did.
First impressions: The Frankenstein's monster loaded fries looked like a disaster.
Seriously, they were much better.
The salsa and guac tempers the dryness of the bacon, while the cheese-guac-salsa combo makes the fries taste like deep-fried nacho potatoes. WHY WERE WE WASTING OUR TIME WITH EITHER/OR WHEN *AND* IS TRULY THE WAY OF THE FUTURE.
While it may seem too good to be true, the McDonald's spokesperson told us that loaded fries are a permanent menu item – they are here to stay.
Though they can't confirm whether or not they'll soon be available worldwide.
