This Harry Potter "Fact" Has Some Fans Shook And Some Saying "WTF I Knew That"

    Just another day on Twitter.

Remember back in 2011 when the last Harry Potter film came out and we were all heartbroken because it was the end?

    Warner Bros.

"Surely there can't be new Harry Potter news every week," we told ourselves.

Well, we were wrong. Hot on the heels of the "wizards shitting themselves" info that went viral last week, people are now freaking out about Harry's scar.

    Warner Bros.

(Side note for die-hard fans: yeah, I know that info was on Pottermore in 2017, but the locals only found it recently,)

Twitter user @todayyearsoldig shared this revelation that Harry's scar is the same shape as the hand motion for the curse that gave it to him.

Did you know Harry Potter’s scar isn’t a lightning bolt, but actually the hand motion to cast Avada Kedavra

That screenshot on the right is from the Harry Potter wiki.

This isn't really new information, you can find people talking about it online over the last few years. Still, fans (and non-fans) are shook.

@todayyearsoldig I’m not even a Harry Potter fan and I’m surprised af

Did you know harry potter’s scar is not a lighting bolt but the hand motion to cast avada kadavra ; the killing curse ? Yeah me neither i just did

Now, I don't want to spoil anyone's fun but I have a few pieces of evidence. Back in 2007, JK Rowling told fans that she gave Harry that shape scar because it looked cool.

    Warner Bros.

During a fan chat (ah, back in the simple days before Twitter), she was asked: "Why is the scar on Harry's forehead lightning shaped?"

Her reply was: "To be honest, because it's a cool shape. I couldn't have my hero sport a doughnut-shaped scar."

Also I'm 95% sure that wand movement was revealed during Pottermore's heyday, meaning that the reason it's a lightning bolt is BECAUSE of Harry's scar.

    Warner Bros.

And people are running with the shocking headline: "Apparently, Harry Potter's scar isn't actually in the shape of a lightning bolt," which is a real stretch of the facts, right?

    Warner Bros.

But also, any day where we're all talking about Harry Potter is a good day by my standards, so carry on I guess.
