Everyone has different priorities and things that make travel worth it. For me, it's sometimes worth spending $50 on a really nice meal, even if I could get a $5 kebab and save. Other times, I realize I could eat for cheaper and use that $50 to visit a national park and spend the day exploring.
At the end of the day, you have to choose your priorities and spend accordingly. It's your money, and it's your choice. Splurge when you want and save when you want, but make sure that you don't let a tight budget hold you back from doing what you really, really want to do.
