2. Make People Laugh

Not only is laughter the best medicine, it’s also one of the most memorable things you can do. Telling or joke or making someone laugh can positively impact their entire day. Plus, it’s totally free!

3. Use Your Talents

Okay, maybe we can’t sing like Mariah or dance like J.Lo, but each one of us has a talent deep inside us just dying to get out. Embrace those talents, even if you think you are not good enough. That is one thing you will learn on your journey in life – don’t let the haters get in the way of you chasing your dream. If you want to be a singer, then sing, if you want to be a dancer, then dance and if you want to be a writer, pick up a pen. Show the world what you’ve got.

4. Tell Your Story Through Art

Just like talents, each one of us has a story, and it is important to tell that story - whether it be in pictures, drawings, writing or graffiti. Art has the power to inspire people and is a great way to leave a legacy behind. Pick up a brush and show the world what you got!

5. Pay it Forward

Offering kindness and support is such an easy act that often gets overlooked. There are many ways you can pay it forward: buying someone’s cup of coffee or participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge are fantastic ways to make an impact.

Spending time outdoors is a great way to get in touch with mother nature and clear your head. It is a fantastic opportunity to leave those phones and tablets at home and find a different form of connection. Go on a hike or a bike ride and see all the beauty this earth has to offer - beauty that can't be purchased in the iTunes store.

7. Volunteer

Volunteering is an excellent way to meet new people and get involved in your community. By taking time out of your day to help out someone in need will not only help the community, but will make you feel so much better. In the words of Barack Obama, "If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”

8. Make Lasting Relationships

To establish friendships and connections with others is part of the reason we are here on Earth. The ability to love someone unconditionally is a gift that has no price tag. Find those people in your life with whom you can go on adventures with and explore the world together.

9. Pursue an Education

Nelson Mandela said that "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" and it truly is. Getting an education and receiving a degree will open so many doors for you in this world. If you are in school now, take the time to appreciate the gift you are being given, and if you are thinking about going back, prepare yourself for an amazing journey.

10. Smile

Yes, simply a smile, because a it has the power to go such a long way. Not only does a smile relieve stress, but it promotes happiness. When someone smiles at you, it is almost impossible not to smile back. You have no idea what someone else is going through and your smile could change someone's whole day. So, whether it's your barista at Starbucks, a co-worker, or a stranger at the mall, flash them those bright pearly whites!

11. Be Happy

Probably the most important one of all: Happiness. Life is too short to be pessimistic or cynical. It is too short to spend time worrying about the things you cannot change. It takes a less amount of energy to be happy and in a good mood than it does to be mad and in a bad mood. Set your alarm clock to your favorite upbeat song, this way the first thing you hear will be something positive. Carry out that positive feeling the entire day, because just like smiling, happiness is extremely contagious.
