Ulta, Jasmin Sandal/BuzzFeed

I never leave the house without this lip savior — hence the car selfie. And I never used to be one who wore glosses, but this changed that. It's thick without feeling tacky and I loOoOve the scent — I'm a vanilla, coconut, shea butter kinda girl and this really fits the bill. When I don't feel like wearing a colored lip, but want to wear a little more than balm, I'm always reaching for this moisturizing gloss.

Promising review: "I love this lip gloss. I bought two without knowing anything about it and I'm happy I did. It's very moisturizing, makes my lips look full and it's not sticky." —Ulta Customer

Get it from Ulta for $7 (available in sizes and colors).

It comes with a base coat, an activator, a top coat, five color powders, a nail file, a brush, and instructions.

Promising review: "This product is great! As someone who is CONSTANTLY getting their nails done (dipping powder) at salons, it has been hard to do so because of COVID-19. I was looking for an inexpensive kit with neutral colors that I could use. This starter kit has been an absolute lifesaver during these unprecedented times. It is so easy to use! I finished off my nails with a gel top coat and cured it under the UV light that I had from a while ago (I attached a photo on the right). Overall it's an amazing product — very satisfied!" —Amazon Customer

buzzfeed editor's eyes before and after using the mascara with the done lashes looking darker and longer
Kayla Boyd / BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed Editor Kayla Boyd tried this out and raves: "As someone who isn't a big fan of false lashes (the glue irritates my eyes and I'm terrible at applying them) this budget-friendly holy grail does the trick for both lengthening and volumizing my lashes. After you've given it a minute to dry, it lasts all day long and doesn't smudge or fade. It seriously gives the effect of false lashes, without the discomfort."

Promising review: "After using Lights, Camera, Lashes by Tarte for the past year, I got tired of breaking the bank over mascara. My sister suggested Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect and I IMMEDIATELY fell in love. It provides dramatic length and great volume. I can honestly say I can’t stop looking at my eyelashes in the mirror every single day because of how awesome they look. Also, it is very long-wearing. I go from an eight-hour workday right to the gym and sweat like crazy...and this stuff doesn’t budge! I love it!!" —Carrie E Miller

Promising review: "This curl cream is a godsend! It truly defines my 3b–3c curls as well as the hair on the crown of my head that isn't as curly (which is everyone's struggle). It doesn't have much of a scent, which I like, and it really moisturizes your hair. Be careful with how much you use cuz it's thick and creamy." —Target customer

Promising review: "I usually use The Ordinary's Hyaluronic acid but I ran out and decided to try this one! I actually love it a whole lot more. I feel like it adds an additional smoothness on top of the boost of hydration to my skin. I use it immediately after washing my face while it's still slightly damp, and top it with my usual facial serum. My skin is typically dry and it looks noticeably more plump! I also have a bit of acne scarring and I feel like it has helped a ton with that." —Brandi

9. Glossier Wowder softens shine as the final step in curating your selfie-ready look (no Insta filter required). I, for one, cannot stop bragging about its ability to blur pores because the moment this light powder hits, *poof* skin appears smoother and foundation stays put well into the night.

Jasmin Sandal / BuzzFeed

I had been meaning to give this a whirl since its release a few years ago, and, boy, I don't know why I waited so long to snag it because this stuff has changed the game. I recently moved from New York to California and, let me tell you, with this change in climate, my skin has gone through every phase imaginable: Painfully flaky with patches of dryness, breakouts beyond belief, and shine, ooh, so much shine you'd think there had been an oil spill. (And I'm telling you all of this because no matter what I put on my face, makeup never sits on it quite like I want it to.)

Enter Wowder — the pillowy-soft powder that has done the unthinkable: blurred my imperfections and sets my concealer without leaving a chalky residue. Now anytime I catch my reflection in the mirror I literally have to double take. My skin appears smoother and any fine lines look so much softer. A little goes a long way — and now I can leave my house with a little more confidence and return with a look that hasn't wavered.

Oh! And it's vegan and cruelty-free.

Promising review: "I have pretty oily skin and I always look shiny by the end of the day. This setting powder left me with a matte finish that lasted all day. :)" —Sammy

Get it from Glossier for $22 (available in five shades).

10. Colab Overnight Renew Dry Shampoo works the night shift to freshen up your sad, greasy roots. Since this stuff does the work of two products (cares while cleansing your scalp with pink clay and lavender), you and your locks can wake up feeling refreshed — and with more time to snooze!

Walmart

BuzzFeed Editor Elizabeth Lily uses this and raves: "I have this dry shampoo and it really does work so much harder than regular dry shampoo formulas. When you spray it on, it's more likely to look stark white (don't freak out about it like I did!), but you simply rub it in like you would a normal dry shampoo before you hit the hay. Waking up with degreased roots definitely gives me a head start on trying to pull myself together these days when, TBH, I'm only (regular) washing my hair once a week. Because this stuff is so potent though, you should really only use it before bedtime. If you're curious about their regular dry shampoos, they're great! The Unicorn scent in particular smells lovely."

Get it from Walmart for $6.38.

11. Refy Sculpt Shape and Hold Gel crafts your fluffiest, most fullest brows with a gel-wax hybrid. You can thank the nifty applicator — of not just a spoolie — but also a comb *and* brush to clean up your caterpillars. Perfectly groomed, beautifully full — without the commitment of having to get your brows professionally laminated.

Sephora

I have this absolute gem of a product — as well as the Refy pomade and pencil — and THIS...this does the job of three tools and comes in one sleek tube. I definitely need some assistance when it comes to sculpting my brows, and because my caterpillars are a little longer in length they tend to droop very easily — even after slicking them back with some brow gel. But this is the only product I've used that actually keeps them in place. Now I don't by any means have thick, model-esque brows so the laminated effect of shaping them upwards doesn't really work for me, however, in terms of just keeping strays from moving around this does *the* trick. (Oh! And don't let the white color of the product put you off — as you work it through your hairs it actually turns into a translucent wax.)

Promising review: "I didn’t have the highest hopes for this but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it. This is the only brow product that’s able to actually keep my brows up. I’ve tried products from Patrick Ta, Anastasia, Benefit and Nyx and this has been the only one to work for me. You for sure have to play around with it to see how much product you should use on your brows." —Sephora Customer

Get it from Sephora for $24.

12. E.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer grips makeup for all-day wear. Sweep the velvety-soft formula — that has 1,000+ reviews — over skin pre-foundation to smooth out uneven complexions, and minimize the appearance of pores.

E.l.f. Cosmetics

Promising review: "I never write captions but this primer is AMAZING. I have combination skin and very visible pores. I always struggle with texture as well. This primer is amazing at minimizing the look of pores and makes your skin look blurred. It feels "wet" when I apply it but after 20–30 seconds it sets itself and makeup looks amazing. If you are not using the putty applicator, use it with your fingertips by pushing the product into the skin (not rubbing it)." —E.l.f. Cosmetics Customer

13. Womaness Eye Opener Treatment lifts, firms, and brightens up dark circles with advanced hyaluronic acid and a plant-derived retinol (hellooo, luxury skincare at half the price!). De-puff by dabbing the cooling metal applicator around your peepers for a wide awake look every morning.

Target

Promising review: "I have sensitive skin that is dry if not moisturized regularly. I also have hereditary dark circles so I've tried all kinds of eye creams in my 50+ years. While no product has removed my hereditary dark circles, I have found a few products that do seem to brighten my eye area; this product is one of them. It is a nice weight and can be used alone or under a heavier eye cream or make up. On my eyes it does a beautiful job moisturizing and softening. I like that it is without a scent and has not caused my eyes to burn or sting." —Target Customer

Get it from Target for $21.99.

14. Pickle's Potions & Lotions Hoof Healer tackles tough skin around your hooves so you don't have to keep 'em hidden, or fork out for pricey pedis. Sandal season may be on its way out, but having baby soft feet year round? A blessing, honestly.

It covers like a liquid and mattifies like a powder for a smooth, shine-free, flawless complexion — even after a full day of meetings.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I am in my late 60s with normal to dry skin and let me tell you, I'm already in love with this L'Oréal Infallible Freshwear powder foundation! A lot of the reviews I've read have come from younger folks with oilier skin who rave about how awesome it is for oily, textured skin. Well, I'm here to tell you that my skin is mature, on the drier side, with dark spots, texture, and wrinkles, and this stuff is magic IF you take the time to BUFF IT IN!! That's the big key here. OMG the formula was so creamy I just kept blending and blending, and my pores started to disappear, my dark spots began to be less noticeable, and my skin had a smooth, creamy, natural appearance like no other powder foundation I've ever tried (that includes my high-end products). The hype is very real with this. Not only will I continue using this gem, but will recommend it to my other mature friends and family, it is THAT GOOD." —Flanamom

16. Fenty Beauty Lip-Loving Scrub nurtures your kisser with a twist-up stick packed with apricot seed exfoliators to slough away dead skin. Apply this without the mess and what will you be left with? A pillowy-soft pout ready for a balm, gloss, or stain. Mwah!

Sephora

BuzzFeed Writer Daniel Boan uses this bb, here's what he says: "I love the idea of lip scrubs, but they're usually so messy I never find myself actually reaching for them. Leave it to Rihanna to solve all my problems — this scrub stick is perfect. It's scrubby enough to lift away any dead skin, but moisturizing enough to soften and smooth. Other scrub sticks I've tried have been either way too rough to the point of being uncomfortable, or so soft that they snap in half, but this one stays intact and is so simple to use that I actually reach for it regularly."

Get it from Sephora for $16.

17. Glossier Cloud Paint blush blends like a cream for subtle, buildable color when you want to look kissed by the sun without having to, you know, actually see the sun. I personally s-w-e-a-r by this little crayon for applying the finishing touches to my brows. I try not to pluck them very often but occasionally I'll have the odd hair growing in that just looks out of place — but is too short to tweeze. This creamy, pigmented crayon disguises any annoying little follicles *and* provides a highlighting effect on my brow bone for a subtle form of contouring that seriously lasts all day.

Jasmin Sandal / BuzzFeed, Peace Out

And this stuff is vegan and cruelty-free!

My blemish-prone skin has had the pleasure of testing this out for the last couple of months and, let me tell you, we (my skin and I) are loving the results. This isn't like a regular cleanser that I'm used to pumping out of a bottle, it's a thick, creamy balm that I scoop out of a jar to exfoliate my face every time I'm in the shower. (Because my skin is on the drier side, I skip certain days but it is gentle enough to use every day, depending on your skin type). After each use, my face looks clean, clarified, and never irritated.

Promising review: "This Blemish Balm is the truth! I have sensitive skin so I love that’s it’s gentle and even leaves my skin moisturized after use. I have noticed a remarkable improvement in texture overall. Highly recommend!" —Elsa M.

Sephora, instagram.com

This is perfect for normal, oily, dry, and combination skin types. Plus, the vegan and cruelty-free formula lowers the temperature of your makeup for seamlessly smudge-proof, waterproof, and transfer-resistant wear.

BuzzFeed Writer Marquaysa Battle loves this and says: "I use this spray and will swear by it for the rest of my days. I definitely have oilier skin in the summer months and over the years, I've tried a number of drugstore setting sprays that did absolutely nothing. This spray is worth the extra coins. I even wore it to Puerto Rico. Through the blazing sun and lots of ocean splashes, my makeup did NOT budge."

Get it from Sephora for $15+ (available in two sizes).

28. Mighty Patch Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches absorb pus and shrink zits ~head on~. For those who are not out of the maskne woods (me), these are great to prevent picking and, according to one of our editors, are an effective treatment to avoid scarring and hyperpigmentation.

amazon reviewer's clear pimple patch full of sebum
amazon.com

Melanie Aman, an editor on our shopping team, tried these out and says: "These are hands down the best pimple patches I’ve ever used. Why? Because they actually work. I’ve tried some more cutesy patches that were great for Instagram photos but did nothing to shrink my breakouts. And the pimple patches that touted themselves as basically invisible were — but so were any results. While the Hero Cosmetics pimple patches are a little more visible (but really only noticeable if someone was standing really close to my face), the results are clear to see. (And JSYK, they also make an invisible version, but I have not tried it.)

IMO they work best on whiteheads, drawing out the pus and preventing me from picking. Once all the fluids are drained (yum!), I plop a patch on what was once home to a very angry whitehead and replace it twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). In my experience, that has been the best treatment for preventing really noticeable hyperpigmentation and acne scarring, which my skin is really prone to after breakouts."

It can also be used as a foundation to even out your skin tone and reduce the appearance of pores and blemishes. AND! You'll want to keep this close by if you over-applied your bronzer, since you can dull it down by sweeping some of this on top to disguise harsh lines.

Promising review: "This is my FAVORITE face powder. Doesn't clog my pores and my skin looks smooth. It's very light and fine and lives up to its name, Airspun. Most powders settle into my face making me look unnatural, but I love how this one looks. It does have a scent, which doesn't bother me because it dissipates quickly. I do recommend as I believe this is a good quality product." —Customer

This is perfect as a brow gel and for lashes if you are looking for a more natural look (or if you are like me and just don't want to deal with removing black mascara every single night. Let's give those puppies a break :P). Lashes are defined with no need of a colored mascara. I also tried putting this on before applying a colored mascara and it was nice. It seperated and lengthened my lashes and made the colored mascara go on smoothly. This didn't flake on me, didn't change color when dry, and did not feel sticky on the brows once dry. So overall, me likey." —Customer

I actually bought some for my friend and a second one for myself (one now is a permanent fixture in my gym bag the other for travel). I also actually prefer the shorter handle for the bikini line. And the cherry on top is that you can replace the blade with regular Venus razor heads." —LondonPeach

35. NYX Concealer Color Correcting Palette disguises any evidence of your late night happy hours that went well beyond midnight. These creamy concealers Ctrl + Z literally ANY kind of discoloration (read: acne scars and dark circles). And they can be blended with foundations to fix wonky undertones that don't match with your complexion.

@NYXCosmetics / Via instagram.com, NYX Cosmetics

The palette features six shades which are light and medium (to camouflage spots that aren't too dark), yellow and peach (to conceal dullness and dark circles), green (to cover redness), and purple and pink (to brighten). The concealers have a creamy, hydrating formula. Apply the color that will conceal the spot that you want to cover and then put your foundation on top of it as usual. NO, you won't have a purple spot or green spot of concealer sitting on your face. Once you apply your foundation, it won't be detectable at all. Happy blending! BTW, NYX is cruelty-free!

Promising review: "I use this every morning on my darker 'age spots' at the outer corners of my eyes and also apply a bit on darker under-eye circles. The mixture of yellow with a bit of the apricot color works wonders for the eye area! And stays ALL DAY without setting powder/spray. A light coat of the green is great for any redness- wear it under your concealer or foundation for a more polished look. (The green can be a little chalky, so apply sparingly and in good lighting). I am impressed how beautifully this product applies and blends. Totally replaced the need for under-eye concealer for me." —NYX Customer

Promising review: "Love this foundation! I've always struggled finding my shade in foundations it was either too dark or too light or I thought it would be the right shade but then it oxidizes. This foundation however does not oxidize! It blends well and you can add more layers if you want a full on coverage type of look without it looking cakey! And it won't come off while you're wearing a mask! Just remember a good skin prep, primer and powder will make your look foolproof!" —Nayelli

37. Athena Club All Day Deodorant keeps year-round sweats at bay. This all-natural stuff is plant-based, free of aluminum, and goes on clear so you can wear your fave black top sans white streaks.

Athena Club

"I know deodorant doesn't sound particularly exciting or fun, but I'm actually excited about this little life upgrade. I just received a sample of this a couple days ago and I think I've found my new go-to deo?! I've always felt like natural deodorant never works, and I have sacrificed on my usual cruelty-free ethos and my icky feeling about using a deodorant that contains aluminum to keep using a major name brand that I felt worked better. But when I first swiped on this stuff, I loved the pleasant but mild smell and already felt like it was different. I will confess, and I know no one here will judge me, that I have skipped several shower days in quarantine with my family, and this empowered me to skip another. I'm not going anywhere and my parents love me unconditionally, okay??? But I also felt totally fresh with this stuff on — I stayed dry and smelling A-OK pretty much all day. So far, I totally recommend this!" —Katy Herman

38. Maybelline Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer pencils in patchy brows for a look that's natural, long lasting, and can be tamed using the soft, built-in spoolie. And! Reviewers note that the angled pencil allows for quicker (and easier) application over a smaller, pointed tip.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "Spent years using a brow pomade but got tired of it drying out in the little pot so quickly. I avoided pencils since I could never find one that went on as saturated and with a creamy sort of consistency that I was used to. Tried this on a whim since I'd seen a few positive reviews via YouTube and thought the angled tip was pretty neat. I don't know if I'd want to use anything else ever again because I love it so much! Easy to apply, goes on smoothly, and the little brush on the end is great for evenly brushing product through the brows once they're filled in. Looks so natural and precise. So very happy to get out of my comfort zone and try something new." —Shannon M Slape
