This is Erin Chack.
She's an employee at BuzzFeed and recently published a book.
Erin decided to commemorate her book being born into the world with a photo shoot ...of her literally giving birth to it. 😂
Flowers: check. Balloons: check. Hospital bracelet: check.
Hand-holding for emotional support: check. Also, nurse getting a good glimpse of your baby exiting the womb? Check.
FINALLY. THE BOOK BABY WAS ON ITS WAY!!
And then at last, mother and book-child see each other for the first time. A precious moment captured on film.
Now that's what you call a labor of love. 😂😂😂
Erin told BuzzFeed about her inspiration for the photo shoot:
The first time I met my agent I made a joke about eventually giving birth to the book, and she joked back about watching out for the corners, and that's when I knew she was the one. But then I got stuck on the birth metaphor: How writing it was the gestation period and when it finally came out people would get to meet it and see it's face, like a real baby.
And then I was on the phone with my best friend Alijah one night a couple months ago and we were talking about the book, and at the same time we were like WE SHOULD DO A BIRTHING PHOTO SHOOT because we have the same brain.
So before she came to New York from Boston for the book launch party Alijah grabbed a surgical mask from her doctor and I swiped some latex gloves from a bagel shop in Queens. And then we set up the futon in my living room to look like a hospital bed, pinned an old duvet cover to the wall to look like a curtain, and placed the flowers people had sent me for the book nearby and voila, we had our set. My favorite detail is the hospital bracelet, which is a wristband from the premiere of a Vans skate video called Propeller.
We forced my boyfriend to take pics, and just went for it. Alijah was super convincing as the OB because she recently had to babysit for a kid while the mother had a home birth in the next room over. She'd make an A+ doula and I whole heartedly hope she delivers my real baby one day.
