Brittany Murphy’s headline-grabbing life ticks off so many boxes on the TV movie must-have list — small town girl makes it big but falls in with the wrong crowd and marries a questionable man before dying tragically young — it’s surprising no one has attempted a biopic of the Clueless and 8 Mile star before now.
That all changes on Sept. 6 with the Lifetime premiere of The Brittany Murphy Story, a TV movie based on the late actor’s life, starring Last Man Standing’s Amanda Fuller as Murphy, Twin Peaks alum Sherilyn Fenn as Murphy’s mother, Sharon, and Kirstie’s Eric Petersen as Simon Monjack, the controversial screenwriter who Murphy married in 2007 — two years before her death.
