8 Whisky Cocktails To Sip On While You Cheers To Women's History Month

International Women's Day is March 8. We'll drink to that!

1. Cool Jane

Anytime you see “cucumber” in a cocktail’s list of ingredients, you know it’s gonna be fresh as heck!

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker

4 drops vanilla extract

3 ounces tonic water

Lemon wedge

Cucumber slice for garnish

PREPARATION

Fill a highball glass with ice, then add Jane Walker, vanilla extract, and tonic water. Squeeze lemon, then garnish with a cucumber slice.

2. The Penicillin

Wouldn't you like to be known as the type of person who serves their drinks with candied ginger? Now's your chance. Carpe that candied ginger.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Johnnie Walker Black Label

3/4 ounce honey ginger syrup*

3/4 ounce lemon juice

Candied ginger for garnish

Optional addition: Islay whisky

PREPARATION

Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass. If you have some on hand, float Islay whisky on top.

*HONEY GINGER SYRUP INGREDIENTS & PREPARATION

1/4 cup honey

1 (2–4 inch) piece of ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

1/4 cup water

Heat honey, ginger, and water in a saucepan over high heat until boiling. Reduce and simmer for five minutes, then strain.

3. Spicy Jane

There's that ginger candy again. "Isn't [insert your name] just the best host?" your friends will ask while being served this drink at the party you're hosting, and everyone will nod in agreement.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker

3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

3/4 ounce honey ginger syrup*

3 dashes cardamom bitters

Ginger candy for garnish

PREPARATION

Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass and garnish with ginger candy.

1/4 cup honey

The grapefruit garnish may be optional, but could you blame anyone who might decide to make it mandatory? Citrus has simply never looked better.

1 1/2 ounces Johnnie Walker Black Label

1 ounce grapefruit juice

2 ounces ginger ale

1 dash Angostura bitters

Optional garnish: grapefruit slice

PREPARATION

Gently stir Jane Walker, grapefruit juice, ginger ale, and Angostura bitters in an ice-filled highball glass. Garnish with grapefruit slice.

5. Jane’s Way

This drink just lip-synched for its life. Look at that garnish! Tens across the board!

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker

3/4 ounces fresh lemon

3/4 ounces orange spice and honey tea syrup*

2 dashes chocolate bitters

Optional garnish: orange wheel and flower petals

PREPARATION

Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish with orange wheel and flower petals.

*ORANGE SPICE AND HONEY TEA SYRUP INGREDIENTS & PREPARATION

1 1/2 cups hot water

1 1/2 cups orange blossom or clover honey

4 orange spice tea bags

Heat hot water and honey in a saucepan until fully incorporated, then steep tea bags for four minutes. Discard tea bags and serve.

6. Whisky Ginger Highball

See that gorgeous image just above? That could be your hand...drinking that drink. Make it happen.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Johnnie Walker Red Label

6 ounces ginger ale

Squeeze of lime juice

Lime wedge for garnish

PREPARATION

Add whisky to an ice-filled highball glass. Top with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime. Gently stir and garnish with a lime wedge.

7. Have it Her Way

We are not suggesting that you have a flair for the dramatic, but this drink certainly does.

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Jane Walker by Johnnie Walker

1 ounce fresh grapefruit juice

3/4 ounce hibiscus honey syrup*

3 dashes chocolate bitters

Lime wedge

2 ounces Mediterranean tonic water

Optional garnish: lime wedge, star anise, bachelor button flower (aka cornflower)

PREPARATION

Add Jane Walker, grapefruit juice, hibiscus honey syrup, and chocolate bitters to an ice-filled shaker. Squeeze and drop in lime wedge. Shake vigorously. Strain into a large wine glass with ice and add Mediterranean tonic water. For garnish, squeeze another lime wedge, then garnish with star anise and bachelor button flower.

*HIBISCUS HONEY SYRUP INGREDIENTS & PREPARATION

1 1/2 cups wildflower or clover honey

1 1/2 cups water

1 cup dried hibiscus or 4 hibiscus tea bags

Add honey, water, and hibiscus to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool, then strain.

8. Yes, She Can

A drink that looks this summer-y should be illegal in the winter. (But it’s not!!!)

INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 ounces Johnnie Walker Black Label

1 1/2 ounces elderberry soda

1 1/2 ounces ginger beer

Lemon wedge, squeezed and dropped, for garnish

PREPARATION

Add Jane Walker, elderberry soda, and ginger beer to an ice-filled highball glass. Squeeze and drop in lemon wedge. Stir gently.
