Because rumour has it that Mara Jade - Luke's wife - could be part of the new series.

10. Lumiya

This Dark Lady of the Sith - real name Shira Brie - served as Darth Vader's right-hand woman during the years of the Galactic Empire. She played her part in ostracising Luke Skywalker, leaving her scarred, and eventually met her end at the hands of the Jedi Master.

9. Tahiri Veila

This young Jedi - who would later turn Sith - was discovered on Tatooine and taken to Yavin IV to begin her training in the New Jedi Order. She became close friends with Anakin Solo but eventually fell to the dark side under the influence of Anakin's brother, Jacen.

8. Anakin Solo

His inclusion in the new series will hinge on when the story is set, as the young Jedi - the third child of Leia Organa and Han Solo - was killed during the Yuuzhan Vong War. He had a strong connection with Tahiri Veila and his death led to her fall to the dark side.

7. Tenel Ka Djo

She's a key part of the Expanded Universe. A member of the Hapen Royal House, Tenel Ka was a Jedi Knight before giving up her life as a Jedi to take role as Queen Mother of Hapes. She had a daughter with Jacen Solo, Allana, and both her and her daughter would play a pivotal role in the downfall of Jacen after he became Darth Caedus.

6. Lowbacca

A force-sensitive Wookie and Nephew of Chewbacca, Lowbacca was a central Jedi during the Yuuzhan Vong War. His inclusion in the new saga would make for a good family link to Chewie. He is also the only Jedi know to have used a bronze coloured lightsaber.

5. Onimi

This force-sensitive member of the Yuuzhan Vong was the mastermind behind the Yuuzhan Vong war, using Shimra Jamaane as a decoy in his Supreme Overlord role. Onimi was destroyed by Jacen Solo, ending the war, but his death would have a strong effect on Jacen on his path to the dark side.

4. Ben Skywalker

Once again, setting is crucial to the inclusion of this young Jedi, son of Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker. He was born during the Yuuzhan Vong War, so his role in the new series might be filled by a younger actor rather than one who can actively participate in the Jedi arts.

3. Jaina Solo Fel

She's the only daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa and is the twin brother of Jacen Solo. Jaina was trained by Mara Jade, and at a point also by Boba Fett - who had escaped from the Sarlacc pit many years earlier. She used her trained to kill her twin, Jacen, avenging her Master's death.

2. Mara Jade Skywalker

The former hand of the Emperor, Mara Jade changed alliances upon the fall of the Empire and worked her way up to become a Jedi Master. She was killed by Jacen Solo, upon learning he was a Sith, and thus her appearance in the new saga is crucial.

1. Jacen Solo

He's the eldest son of Han Solo and Leia Organa and a key talisman during the Yuuzhan Vong War. In a perfect world, the new film will be set around the time of Solo's fall to the dark side, becoming Darth Caedus. It will add a sense of familiarity to old and new Star Wars fans, as Jacen, much like his Grandfather Anakin Skywalker, is seduced by the dark side in an attempt to bring peace to a troubled galaxy and protect the ones he loves.
