If Star Wars is your only experience with John Boyega, you should stop what you're doing and watch Attack the Block immediately. His character, Moses, couldn't be more different from Finn and it's a testament to how great of an actor John is. Also, it's one of the best sci-fi films of the last decade. Pro-tip: watch it in subtitles, unless you're amazing at picking up South London slang.

This action-packed film features Mark Hamill in a small, but thoroughly enjoyable role as Professor Arnold. If you love Bond movies, Colin Firth, and having a good fucking time, this is the movie for you.

One of the most underrated '90s comedies, Soapdish is a ~hilarious~ movie about the set of a soap opera. It has an amazing cast, and features Carrie Fisher as fiesty casting director, Betsy Faye Sharon.

In this film, you get two Star Wars actors for the price of one! Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac star in this thrilling sci-fi drama about a programmer who is sent to the seclusive home of a tech genius with the task of evaluating a human-like A.I. In case you've spent a lot of time wondering, Domhnall is pronounced like "tonal", but with a D instead of a T.

Often referred to as "the dark timeline's The Family Stone" (by me), this star-studded dramedy features Adam Driver as Phillip, the youngest of four siblings, who are all forced together after their father's death.

Oscar Isaac co-stars with Elizabeth Olsen in this sexy, over-the-top thriller about a woman stuck in a loveless marriage (to Tom Felton!), who is unable to change her situation due to her overbearing aunt/mother-in-law (Jessica Lange!). You guys, Oscar plays a hot AF painter named Laurent LeClaire. It's the epitome of a guilty pleasure!

An obvious choice, but not mentioning this movie would be a disservice to Carrie Fisher. Her character, Marie, is one of the most relatable, three-dimensional best friends in rom-com history. "You're right, you're right. I know you're right."

Not for the faint of heart, this drama/thriller/film noir kicks off with Kyle MacLachlan's character finding a human ear. From there, a whole lot of ~intense~ shit goes down, which is to be expected considering it's a David Lynch film. Laura Dern co-starred as Sandy Williams when she was only 19 years old.

Just a sweet, romantic film about a man who uses his gift of time travel to create the perfect life with the woman he loves. Domhnall Gleeson is adorable as Tim, and has great chemistry with Rachel McAdams.

This action-packed comic book thriller by Robert Rodriguez is a visually stunning adaptation of Frank Miller's comic series. Benicio Del Toro is creepy AF as Jackie Boy. Fun fact: Quentin Tarantino guest directed Benicio's big scene (you know the one).

If you loved Lady Bird, you should definitely check out Frances Ha, starring Greta Gerwig. The film centers on a directionless dancer who is forced to make life changes when her best friend moves out. Adam Driver plays one of her new roommates, Lev.

Another top-notch sci-fi, this Jeff Nichols film is about a young boy with powers who is on the run from a religious cult. The movie features Adam Driver as (dare I say it?) ~adorable~ NSA communications analyst, Sevier. Bonus: Michael Shannon isn't scary for once.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival and Blade Runner 2049) this crime drama is action-packed and full of fantastic performances (get it, Emily Blunt). Benicio Del Toro co-stars as Alejandro, a hardcore assassin working with the CIA to bring down the Mexican cartel.

After Gollum and before Snoke, Andy Serkis was using his motion capture skills to bring Caesar to life in the recent Planet of the Apes films. The newest and final installment, War for the Planet of the Apes, was one of the most underrated films of 2017.

Every single Muppet movie is worth your time, but it's always fun to re-visit this classic. Riddled with cameos and heartwarming songs, the OG Muppet movie features Frank Oz (the man behind Yoda, obviously) as Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and tons of other beloved Muppets.

Who doesn't love this movie? Jenna Rink is a 13-year-old in the '80s who wishes she was "thirty, flirty, and thriving" and BOOM, she wakes up to a fabulous (but, uh oh, shallow) life as a 30-year-old in 2004. Andy Serkis has a supporting role as Jenna's boss, Richard. BTW, someone should put Mark Ruffalo in a Star Wars. Don't @ me.
Where to watch: Netflix
This list would have been incomplete without Jurassic Park, which is obviously Laura Dern's biggest/best/awesomest movie. You don't need me to tell you what it's about it. Treat yourself to a millionth viewing!
