APRIL 7, 2015 If you followed me on my other blog or on facebook, you already know I had the opportunity to be an extra in the movie set to be in theaters this fall; “Woodlawn.” It was all wonderful and exciting. Last week when the trailer came out, the excitement only increased.

Then, a few days later, I received an email to come back to the set and fill the featured extra position -still unpaid- of Chaperone #3 at the prom. I went through hair, make-up, and wardrobe. The set really did feel like a prom; it was magical and beautiful. I was impressed by all the hard work that had to be put into making a film, and all the people who kindly worked together to accomplish this same goal. The movie trailer looks amazing and is very professional. I have been fortunate to have been involved, even in a small way. I hope that when we get to watch the film this October I will be in there somewhere cheering or chaperoning. But, like in life, I guess sometimes you just never know.

“In 1973, a spiritual awakening captured the heart of nearly every player of the Woodlawn High School football team, including its coach Tandy Gerelds. Their dedication to love and unity in a school filled with racism and hate leads to the largest high school football game ever played in the torn city of Birmingham, Alabama, and the rise of its first African American superstar, Tony Nathan” – Movie synopsis.
